GUEST APPEARANCE BY FRESHLY DECEASED FRANK GORSHIN (aka the Riddler).

Huk-L, Thursday, 19 May 2005 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Huk, sometimes I think you're constantly lying in wait to pounce on my threads.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 19 May 2005 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this going to be on at the same time as the OC?

giboyeux (skowly), Thursday, 19 May 2005 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Quentin is also in the Muppet version of "Wizard of Oz" this weekend. With Ashanti.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 20 May 2005 05:35 (twenty-one years ago)

this episode ruled

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 20 May 2005 06:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Arrrgh you American fiends, stop taunting us!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 20 May 2005 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone know how far behind UKTV is?

robster (robster), Friday, 20 May 2005 07:09 (twenty-one years ago)

TWENTY YEARS

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 20 May 2005 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

it was pretty much a standard csi episode, it wasn't like it became a different show or anything, but it was a really good csi, you could tell william peterson was really having fun with some of the lines (i died laffing at the 'as much' part). the gore was kicked up a few notches, somewhat hilariously.

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 20 May 2005 07:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd better set the video for 2025 in case we're out.

robster (robster), Friday, 20 May 2005 07:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Blount it was the BEST CSI EPISODE EVER. Awards grab of huge proportions.

The script was total QC, particularly the courier's lawyer, the macabre fever dream Nick has just before they find him, and Catherine berating Grissom for "being Jack Handy over there, playing with your deep thoughts."

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Friday, 20 May 2005 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe not the best, but in the top five, for sure.

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Friday, 20 May 2005 11:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Bah.

The Square Root Of Negative Two (kate), Friday, 20 May 2005 11:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh man I so wanna see this. I guess I'll have to set my vcr for 2025 as well :(

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 20 May 2005 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I loved it -- best CSI episode I've seen in a long time. I'm kind of freaked out about fire ants now, though. I really didn't need another phobia.

Leon Federline (Ex Leon), Friday, 20 May 2005 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

"The script was total QC"

?

N_RQ, Friday, 20 May 2005 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I meant QT, not QC. Sorry!

Very well done overall, even though certain segments of the casual, "dudes talkin" Tarantino-style dialogue -- particularly the locker-room scene early in the show -- felt somewhat forced to me. The scene where the CSIs are digging up the dog casket, and they trick you into thinking that the sound of Nick's casket cracking apart are the sound of the CSIs' shovels, was excellent.

rasheed wallace (rasheed wallace), Friday, 20 May 2005 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i liked this a lot! the ending was pretty weak though

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

"Doin' it, Tarantino-style" will never be the new ILX meme.

Aimless (Aimless), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

definitely best CSI ever. but very poorly-plotted. the whole thing was a pretty big wtf.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Proof I don't pay attention to TV -- this was the only place I learned about this episode and Tarantino's involvement at all! (Is this a good thread to ask what the CSI thing is in general? IE, a good police procedural in general or...?)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

where to start!

it's a total procedural, focused heavily on the forensic stuff. and generally it's VERY watchable, very stylized, and very silly.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

it's kind of instant kitsch.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

LOTS OF FLUIDS!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

it's pretty great ned - it's a procedural pretty much except you can't imagine there's a police department in the country where things work this way or labs look like this. the original is still the best by far but i get LOTS of kicks from csi: miami and the csi: new york 'turntablisim' episode was like the quincy punk episode of the 21st century or something.

i liked that the guy's daughter probably really was innocent and that the csi guys didn't give a fuck anyways.

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:34 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost -- Ah, then Cronenberg should be directing an episode. ;-)

Hahah, I was thinking of Quincy before Mr. Blount even mentioned it!

I've seen a clip here or there, I remember thinking, "Hm, nice lab."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

she was innocent but they didn't really do anything to her besides give her some stern advice!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

the episode's moral really was "you can't take it with you"

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 20 May 2005 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

ned, its pretty and thats all that matters (cf vegas, which is fucking brilliant)

can someone please say they taped this or has it online or something, please?

anthony, Friday, 20 May 2005 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

its pretty and thats all that matter

Like me! Yay!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 May 2005 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought it went too far out of its way to NOT be a standard episode, actually. i liked the main twist of having the murder scene drawn out through the whole show instead of being shown as a gory fast-motion fx flash, but the dream stuff was dull and the I AM DIRECTED BY TARANTINO roy rogers/board-game dialogue was just preposterous. also no sleazy sex subplot - what good is csi:classic without that?? he might as well have done csi:miami (liked i wanted in the first place)

jones (actual), Saturday, 21 May 2005 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(now csi:miami needs to go one better and guest-star not just a director but a WHOLE MOVIE and you know i'm talking about Alien 5. think about it.)

jones (actual), Saturday, 21 May 2005 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I just watched it last night ... WTF is right... SPOILER ALERT: When they got to the scene, they should have pumped some air down the tubes and/or some fire-ant killer .. and "Get the Paramedics over here!" What in the hell? Be ready! Too much drama, not enough gettin' shit done.

Also, a complaint with most CSI episodes.. how come you never hear, "Hey! I found a long red hair! ... Oh... I think it's mine, because I don't wear any kind of protective/non-contaminant clothing in the field."

diedre mousedropping and a quarter (Dave225), Monday, 23 May 2005 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
this is the episode that's on Five next tuesday. so, er, best not to read the above posts.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 8 July 2005 13:44 (twenty years ago)
