What do I do? Its disgusting, it started becoming crusty after my car accident. now its gross. I've tried "udder cream" and it doesn't work. Motor oil?

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Crusty how? Just dry skin? Or is the crust made from dried gunk?

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you seen a dermatologist about it? You might have to.

(Excellent thread title, BTW)

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, severe dry skin. its like alligator skin. part of me wishes i could gnaw on my elbow.

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Aren't all elbows a little crusty? I figure it's like those patches on the elbows of sportscoats, otherwise yo might wear a hole through your skin.

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Excellent thread title, BTW
Seconded. I took one look at it and even though it was in Boldface I knew it wouldn't end up in the dreaded "Unanswered Questions" dustbin.

crushed pineapple will eat all the clinging dead skin off (this might be painful) and then you can work on the new skin with high-caliber lotion like that what neutrogena makes, or even olive oil if the skin is not so raw that you're concerned about infection.

or you might want to go to a professional--surely you've got some sort of followup doctor's appointment coming up and you can ask?

teeny (teeny), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

oh and apply all moisturizers immediately after getting out of shower/bath, this is key. And drink lots of water.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

my elbows are drying out! help!

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't drink enough water. thats why my legs are so dry too.

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Friday, 20 May 2005 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

haha we've totally gotten to the point where every thread is a dupe thread.

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

it may be psoriasis

jed_ (jed), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

My elbow actually hurt quite a bit last week because the skin was so dry. My girlfriend made me do the lotion-after-morning-shower thing and it fixed it right up. I wasn't in a car accident though.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

How come nobody thought to put elbow-lotion in Bingo's care package?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I use that Oil of Olay in-shower lotion stuff and it works really well. And then you don't have to bother slathering it on while standing naked in the cold bathroom.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

E45 cream for extremely dry elbows works wonders. Also Chris, it might be an idea to get some kind of emolient bath oil/lotion.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Ken L - we were far too concerned about upping Chris' cookie intake!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I second Je4nne's recommendation.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I just bought some aquaphor yesterday. well, at least its only a crusty elbow. i can think of a lot worse.

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i wonder if i took out my belt sander and sanded them down they would feel better.

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, if you're feeling posh.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Perhaps some exfoliating lotion too could help to get rid of excess scales?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

drink a litre of aloe

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll add my reccomendation for AQUAPHOR, too. I've used it on chapping, chafing, and burns. Aquaphor aquaphor aquaphor.

andrew l. r. (allocryptic), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Is this the thread where I can ask why so many moisturizing cremes seem to come from Norway?

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 20 May 2005 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it because Geir chafes them all so?

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 20 May 2005 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

neutrogena says because of all the rough norse fishermen's hands.

teeny (teeny), Friday, 20 May 2005 16:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Admit it Bingo, it wasn't the car crash that caused the crusty elbow, it was one too many vigorous pullings-out of crusty crews, as Biz Markie describes it.

Ken L (Ken L), Friday, 20 May 2005 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
elbow became uncrusty after applications of aquaphor. it is crusty again. two months later.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

five years pass...

5 years later and my crusty elbow has been solved by bag balm.

Mangrove Earthshoe (herb albert), Tuesday, 25 January 2011 20:33 (fifteen years ago)
