VIVA REVOLUTION!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 21 May 2005 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, Moldova! Wasn't Michael Praed part of the royal family there?

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 21 May 2005 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

As soon as Norway's song started, I had this funny feeling they were going to win. For one thing, I couldn't take my eyes off the lead singer's crotch.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Ukranian Chumbawumba. They are breaking out of their chains DO YOU SEE??

I voted for Moldova! Mr Silver Norway was very good value on BBC3 afterwards - he squeezed a woman's breast and then licked her leg.

I feel so culturally deprived.

WigWam rule, I'm going to order their albums!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 22 May 2005 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

apparently,

upon meeting victor yushchenko, wigwam's singer said "ROCK & ROLL REVOLUTION", to which victor replied "yeah".

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 22 May 2005 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked Bosnia-Herzegovina, but I may have been alone in that. I also liked Spain, and that dude who was singing what should have been a Tony Christie song except he was about as far removed from Tony Christie as possible (it was about Las Vegas).

Norway were my favourites until Moldova came on, then it was all over bar the shouting (and the drinking).

(xpost he shouted Rock & Roll Revolution at the end of his set too, it must be his catchphrase)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 22 May 2005 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Moldova wuz robbed.

$V£N! (blueski), Sunday, 22 May 2005 11:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Moldova = Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Turkey had the Red Hot Chilli Peppers last year. To vote for Moldova is to legitimise RHCP, and their imperialist agenda.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 22 May 2005 14:55 (twenty-one years ago)

So, who won then?

Markelby (Mark C), Sunday, 22 May 2005 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Greece

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 22 May 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Greece: Had an old school euro-pop chorus, the eastern influence elsewhere, and line-dancing.

Is that the same Wigwam that was a prog band?

walter kranz (walterkranz), Monday, 23 May 2005 06:39 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven months pass...
um, saw something this morning that suggested this year's Finnish entry was a Gwar-a-like costumed metal band. can someone (and i'm looking at a certain Mr T.A of Helsinki here) please explain.

There's more info on the ILM thread:

EUROVISION 2006 ANTICIPATION THREAD

Here's the music video for their Eurovision song:

They actually wear those costumes onstage. There was also some discussion whether or not their pyrotechnics can be used on the Eurovision stage, but apparently they've gotten the permission.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 6 May 2006 09:18 (twenty years ago)

This might be the first time in years I'm actually going to watch the whole Eurovision show.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 6 May 2006 09:19 (twenty years ago)

oh lordi

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 6 May 2006 10:51 (twenty years ago)

"It's The Arockalypse"
"On the day of Rockoning"

zappi (joni), Saturday, 6 May 2006 10:53 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, he's really fond of bad puns, his latest LP is also called "The Arockalypse", and his songs have titles like "The Night of the Loving Dead".
