OMG I LIVE ONE BLOCK OUT OF THE WHITTIER RAPE ZONE.

Atrociously stupid.

box of socks, Tuesday, 24 May 2005 06:56 (twenty-one years ago)

it's like they're trying to sell us neighborhoodies or something

g e o f f (gcannon), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

OF COURSE ALL RAPES ARE REPORTED TO THE POLICE (ESPECIALLY ACQUAINTANCE/DATE RAPES) SO THANK YOU FOX-9 FOR TELLING ME WHERE I DARE NOT GO. I FEEL EVER SO MUCH SAFER NOW THAT I KNOW TEH EXACT GEOGRAPHICAL COORDINATES OF SEXUAL ASSAULT IN MY CITY.

notice no snappy explanation for the LYNDALE RAPE ZONE

i'm disappointed that they didn't do st paul so i could see frogtown up in lights (if it indeed is)

Josh (Josh), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus i hate foxnews. everything they "report" is like that old snl insurance commercial that warns old people about the high threat of robot attacks anytime, anywhere.

sleep (sleep), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

How do rape zones correspond to rape dollars?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I live in a rapidly gentrifying rape zone. The natural progression of a neighborhood is: shooty killy zone --> rape zone --> pricey furniture store zone.

Personally, I'd rather live in a pear zone.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Ooh... those are nice. Also to be sought -- high-density ice cream zones.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

You live by WP, right, K? If there's a super-high incidence of reported rapes there I'd guess it has a lot to do with the whole North Ave prostitution thing.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea how many rapes go on around me every day, actually. Except for the metaphorical kind that I invent on the spot. "$3 for a loaf of wheat bread? That's RAPE!"

slightly more subdued (kenan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

If it's raining particularly hard it's "raping it down" in my vernacular.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

True fact that I made up: incidence of petty theft and indecent exposure in Wicker Park declined dramatically as soon as they finished shooting Josh Hartnett's scenes in that movie.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

KENAN DOESN'T LIVE IN WICKER PARK.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

No, no I do not. East Ukranian Village is probably the closest estimation of where I live.

slightly more subdued (kenan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to live in a Waterfalls Of Pussy Zone. Where is that? How's the rent?

slightly more subdued (kenan), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

My sincerest apologies to everyone I have hurt with my egregious misrepresentation.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I also apologize for not immediately correcting nabisco's 3/4 mile error, and allowing the charade to continue.

My favorite bit: Using computer crime tracking technology...

It's like they used the Local News Batcave or something.

Instead of INTERNBOT5000 dutifully plotting intersections on a map with little stickers.

What's THIS? Roundtown radii wracked by RAPE?

Your children could be in grave danger every time they step out the front door. Find out why you should be terrified of everything, every moment of your waking life, next at 10.

three years pass...

Abigail Breslin is following in the slightly controversial child star footsteps of Dakota Fanning and signing on to star in a film with some very mature themes. Breslin, per Variety, has signed on to join Maria Bello and Samuel L. Jackson in Rape: A Love Story. Based on Joyce Carol Oates' 2003 novella, the indie drama centers on a mother recovering from a gang rape which was witnessed by her daughter. She continues to be stalked by her attackers but finds protection in the form of a veteran cop.
