London ILXors, some advice please

I may have an opportunity to come to London to work, but for a variety of reasons I don't really want to move up permanently. I've looked at commuting, but that's kind of looking like 6am-8pm which I'm not sure I could do every day.

So what I really want is somewhere to stay in London that I might spend a couple of nights a week at, but on an ad-hoc basis. Does such a beast exist, in your experience, and how might I find one? (Yes, I know this sounds like a hotel but that's not viable for 2-3 years I don't think)

Yeah, such places exist. We have a guy in my house who does this - but he has an arrangement with my housemate. There was another house I lived where there was a bloke who did this - but he payed a flat rate per month and slept there 4 to 5 nights a week.

I think the latter place was advertised in the Guardian.

Any idea what the going rate might be?

The one in Central London... errr... I think it was around £350 a month, but that was Hoxton. You can probably get a lot cheaper in zone 2 or 3.
