Flushed Cheeks

Does anyone know a remedy to make my cheeks look less flushed. There seems to be a light "butterfly" mark covering my face all the time. My cheeks were totally clear until I was about 15, now I display a rouge that would put Barbara Cartland to shame...... any ideas?

And yes, I am talking about facial cheeks. And no, make up is not an option.......

Green colour corrective cream kind of works in toning down the redness although it can be obvious looking, also vitamin k serum which apparently shrinks the tiny capillaries that cause the redness.

The green stuff is the way forward. Also work out if you're allergic to anything. Major redness culprits include: red wine, chilli, other spices, peppers - basically layt off the booze and the hot food.

you have the same problem as me its called roseacea- you can get some meds to calm it down (my sometiems looks really obvio and other times less obv) but cover stick or keromask are good ways of covering up without med and it doesnt look like makeup as keromask is made for your skintone....

I also have an annoying "heat spot" type thing under my left eye. It's like a blood filled mole or something. It's been there for over 2 years. It disappears when I touch it.

Thanks for the advice so far!

I'm not sure if it's rosecea, it isn't as red as that, plus there is no difference in texture where it is red.

I only have it mildly - my mother and my grandfather have really suffered. I'm stupidly pale, but tend to flush quickly after a few drinks etc. A night of red wine and chilli will leave me with a few raised bumps, but generally I'm just a bit pink. I hate it, but others have called it cute.

JTS, this heat mole, is it a haemangioma? I have one of them - a little spidery collection of capillaries raised above the skin. I kind of think it's cute, weirdly.

Do you? Is it on your face? If so, I've never noticed.

I think a doctor can fix this. Or a plastic surgeon. I know a colleague of ours had a similar problem and had it (more or less) fixed.

Anna, yes, below my left eye. It's been there over a decade now. It's not hugely noticeable (obviously) and entirely painless. It adds to my character, maybe :)

i get this when i drink cider.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

After looking at some images on Google, I can safely say it isn't that. This mole is about the same size as a pin prick and has a tiny red "aura" around it. It's been there practically forever and I hate it with a passion......

hmm do you have any other symptoms? I ask b/c this is similar what my mother has with her Lupus.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, sometimes i fall over or throw up.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 25 May 2005 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

what is the explanation for that British flushed-ness anyway?

ff, Wednesday, 25 May 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

cider.

My face gets red whenever I work out or if I go outside in the heat for less than 5 minutes. And it's not just a little red. I look like a lobster head all summer long. I used to think it was just because I was out of shape, but I've been going to the gym for quite some time now and I still leave with a red head. :-(

seriously though, i do get rather flushed cheeks if i get warm, and it does last for a long time. or if i blush for whatever reason, it doesn't fade for ages. but i did notice this happen last night after one pint of cider. it's not very attractive, tbh, and i hate it when it happens. not even standing in the cold for 10 minutes or pressing my face against a cold window helps.
