Fancy A(nother) Bike Ride, London?

I really want to do a bike ride of decent length. Did the ride to Oxford happen? Ed, will you fancy this when your bike arrives? Somewhere with rolling green countryside, impossibly idyllic glades and tempting country pubs would be good. Any suggestions?

Could be good. We could do the Thames route to a country pub, I know a nice one just the other side of pangborne in a village called stanford dingley which is just off national route 4. Alternatively i was looking at the kent cycle map and there's some lovely looking rides around there too. Also Hampshire must have some lovely bits. Out southwest of London is probably better for the both of us I get.

Emsk is doing the London to Brighton this weekend, but she may be up for rides after that. Let me get the bike, get it running good and then away we go. I shall pop by stamfords and look at the bike maps.

also http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ is a good source of infor and hampshire has a good page of stuff http://www.hants.gov.uk/cycling/routes/index.html

There's actually quite a lot of nice quiet country roads round Surrey that'll be easy to get to from London. Have a look at this...

Yes, SW London and outwards is ideal for me. Hope you get the bike fixed up quickly!

london to oxford was HILARIOUS but don't talk to me about sodding pangbourne! more details when i have more time.

the london to brighton is june 19th, not this w/e, the weekend before it i am thinking of doing this:

Little Green Ride
LCC Ride Medium Distance
Date: Sunday, June 12, 2005 Time: 9.45am
Place: Finsbury Park rail station
Description: Easy paced ride of around 30 miles in the north Hertfordshire, with pub lunch.
Contact: Sue Dorey Telephone: 020 7729 5409

(although it is also bike day in traf square that day and i want to try one of those krazy reclining bikes).

Ah, this weekend is courier ride to brighton followed by rave.

I bought a book called 'Cycle Tours around London, South'. a series of circuits in the 50-60km range, ranging from easy to strenuous. Once I get the bike fixed up I propose one from hook out to New Alresford and fact by way of an elongated loop.
