That's really sad towards the end there. (On the one hand if a friend was born again and wouldn't leave me alone about it, I'd get terribly annoyed; on the other hand there's no reason just to break off a friendship if someone's religious views change to something you're not fond of -- still, it sounds clear he had some deep-seated problems as well...)
