i'm a very consistent person in this regard.

-reference books (esp. dictionaries and encyclopedias; later, style manuals and wikis)
-obsession w/ public transport (either riding it aimlessly to see where it takes me, or studying route maps)
-a knack for remembering the most mundane/meaningless factoids and being able to recite them at will, but being awful at remembering important stuff like names and faces
-an interest in the aesthetics of cars, despite not being able to drive

I can't really think of anything. I think I may have changed completely.

oh, i forgot one:

-things you put together yourself (whenever my parents brought home some "assembly required" piece of junk, i would always insist on doing the job)

Dogs. Always loved them, never grew out of it. The great thing about being an adult and having my own dogs is that they can sit on the sofa if I say it's okay, and they can stick their heads out the window of the car if I say they can. Yeah, I'm really sticking it to my parents with my crazy lifestyle.

being fascinated and exited going to toys r us

my love for the outdoors, fires and camping. (especially if i made the fire from scratch.. i stil feel so proud)

stationary....i still have a very weird facination over pens and paper and varietys of these....? maybe because i like drawing and doing comic strips...

still tucking the bedcovers under my feet so no-one can tickle them and tucking my arms at my side and never sleeping with them above my head.

An obsession with maps.
And obsession with patterns.

I also still have a map obsession, even though I don't draw my own any more.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 26 May 2005 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Not really a "thing," but I remember always having this distaste of accessories or having excess stuff that you had to carry around. I prefered toys that didn't have a lot of little seperate parts (Legos don't count), and though I wasn't really into comics, I can imagine I would have preferred Spiderman (whose powers were self-contained and who had a streamlined get-up) to Batman (who had a bunch of extra STUFF). I think this is still true, I like to keep things minimal and I don't like to have a lot of things with me.

More honestly, count me in on a count of map obsessiveness.

I would say having terrible allergies, but I'm now on some meds that are drastically reducing the severity of my allergies, so that is no longer the case. I would also say a love of reading and listening to music, but that would be a bit vague. I too love learning little bits of trivia and can memorize the most useless factoids around but not anything particularly impressive. I guess my love of math could be one thing. So could be my need to be quiet in relaxation.

Comedy. I have always loved a good laugh, and nothing makes me feel more like a kid than laughing so much that I honk and cry and then can't move.
