Early 1990's video game (Atari ST/Amiga) ID

Side-scroller where you are some kind of robot (maybe you get to choose?) and you have various weapons/skills and the landscape is kind of jungle, maybe pre-historic perhaps? One robot has a kind of axe for an arm and every time he swings it he kind of screams. I only had a demo of the first level but it was great.

I know, this sounds like every game ever?

The graphics were nice for that period, I remember. Very metallic but also kind of organic - Bitmap-Brothers style.
