FINNISH STRIKERS ARE MAKING MY BUNGHOLE ANGRY!!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Time to invest in Finnish bidet companies?

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

By sheer luck, just before the strike started one of my roommates made our commune buy a huge amount of toilet paper to help her capoeira group raise some funds, so we've yet to feel the strike on our arseholes. And as I said elsewhere, it's not like we can't get some foreign toilet paper, we're just gonna miss the silky touch of genuine Finnish bumbaclaat.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

That is one of the most beautiful posts ever.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

you live in a commune?

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The photos make perfect sense now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah sorry, in Finnish we often call shared flats "communes". I live in an apartment with three girls.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

You have a friend that raises money for capoeira by buying toilet paper?

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Finland is so veird.

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

The photos still make perfect sense.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

More than ever, eh Ned?

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Buy selling toilet paper. They buy toilet paper on stock price, then sell it to folks with a bit higher price. I think it's a common way to raise funds.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(I've never posted pics of my flatmates, I think.)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Buy = by.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's a common way to raise funds.

No. No it is not.

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I've heard of others doing it.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Tuomas, you are the black market of terlit tissha.

Je4nne ƒur¥ (Je4nne Fury), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I think it's a common way to raise funds.

*BAFFLED*

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Imagine if the Girl Scouts sold that over here.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Double-ply Thin Mints = I think I just wet my pants.

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe they should sell diapers as well.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

"Care for some Girl Scout Toilet Paper?"

"Is it made with real Girl Scouts?"

This joke would no longer work.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, obviously not girl scouts, but some other groups. You've never heard of this?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 20:58 (twenty-one years ago)

With candy and cookies, yes. With toilet paper, no.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Though I suppose that one does come after the other.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Australia has never heard of this novel fundraising method but does not necessarily disapprove. However Australia will have to have a think about whether it would be "un-Australian" or not. Being "un-Australian" terrifies Australia.

estela (estela), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

australians would just steal the toilet paper from work before selling it

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 23:56 (twenty-one years ago)

that would mean you'd have to buy one of those ginormous rolls with no perforations on the little sheets

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

perhaps TP is a luxurious commodity over there?

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Au contraire, this place is Asswipe Central.

estela (estela), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"Arsewipe Central"

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

what do they call Big Macs in Finland?

Amon (eman), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 04:39 (twenty-one years ago)

A Kimmo Kuusumun Mika Rättö (with cheese)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

that would mean you'd have to buy one of those ginormous rolls with no perforations on the little sheets

I think these are mainly used in pubs and public libraries due to the rough quality of the paper (which makes it cheaper). Workplaces like mine, who care about their workers' quality of life and abotu the tenderness of their bumholes, still offer their employees the smaller, softer quality paper rolls.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 05:44 (twenty-one years ago)

They are made with Rat??

C J (C J), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 05:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Mika Rättö is the guitarist for the bands Kuusumun Profeetta and Circle (and a few more, I think).

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 05:57 (twenty-one years ago)

But Big Mac is just Big Mac, sorry.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 05:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry, I meant to say vocalist, though I think he plays guitar and keyboards as well.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 06:01 (twenty-one years ago)

It's okay Tuomas, I've woken up properly now.

I'm less concerned by the fact that I post (stupidly) on ILE when still half-asleep early in the morning than by the fact that the first thread I choose to read is about Finnish toilet paper. A psychoanalyst would have a field day with me :)

C J (C J), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 06:04 (twenty-one years ago)

No, no, no, NO! - A psychoanalyst would have a Finnish toilet day with you, C J!
With the softly fund raised bumpaper and everything :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a feeling I'd like living in Finland.

Also Finlands toilet paper shortage vs Englands Bourbon Biscuit shortage.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 08:34 (twenty-one years ago)

What's that about?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoa! Bourbon biscuit shortage??

That's serious. You can improvise with all sorts of other things if you run short of toilet paper, but nothing can replace a Bourbon biscuit. I wuv them, although it must be said that I eat them in a slightly disgusting way.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

What I meant was, why's there a shortage of them? Are Bourbon biscuit workers on strike too?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe there's a shortage of them because I am such a piggy.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a flood at the factory that makes them, Celeste is the expert on Bourbon biscuits so her blog will explain.

http://www.coastaltown.nildram.co.uk/2005/03/im-worried.html

Thinking about it that was sometime, hopefully things have improved somewhat since then.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

sometime ago...

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone have that R.E.M. song "Cushy Tush" that sounds like a toilet-paper jingle?

Ian Riese-Moraine's exploding hamster zeppelin! (Eastern Mantra), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

"Cushy Tush", heh?! :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...

I think it's a common way to raise funds.

Wrapping paper maybe, toilet paper no. At least in the U.S.
