How can I rip audio from mp3 files that are set up as listen-only? Seems like there should be a way to do this.

Low-tech answer: if your computer is older and has both audio in and out (headphone jack) ports, you can run a cord between the two, and record and edit using any kind of digital music software.

You should just be able to use Audacity and record whatever sound is playing on the computer (that's what I do for YouTube).

Soundflower will route system audio to a virtual input for recording.

if you are using a pc you need to enable "stereo mix" as a sound source, Windows keeps disabling it every time there's a big update.

then it's just a matter of opening any music editor, choosing "stereo mix" instead of a microphone, and starting the streamed audio playing / pressing record.
