Oh yay! I'll buy that!
I still really wanna read his original unmangled screenplay for fat man and little boy

Yeah, the Bomb seemed to be an equivalent obsession to the Ripper. (The account of FMALB in Smoking in Bed is enthralling.)
― Freedom, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 12:39 (ten years ago)
exactly, that book is what made me want to read his draft!

The Rum Diary was decidedly pony.

"pony" = "not that great?"

If it's in his prose voice I'll be more than eager. IDK if he has a drier "scrupulously sourced research" voice.
God how I'd love to read some of those unproduced screenplays...

I thought The Rum Diary was mostly decent enough, but trailed off rather badly - the use of the "know the price of everything, and the value of nothing" platitude at the end was a heart sinker, to be sure. I get the impression from interviews and so on that he wasn't hugely into the project.
Re: Ripper, the theme itself is of much less interest for me than what he'll do with it.

Ah ok. It's not quite pony imo. Just so-so. Nice that they gave Christopher Young the chance to go all mondo combo on the ost though.
