We don't have a category for "celestial events", do we?

Anyway, I got forwarded an email this morning like what is suggested in the following article, did some research because I didn't believe it, and it turns out that it's still going to be pretty friggin cool, albeit not AS LARGE IN THE NIGHT SKY AS THE MOON.

Also: image googling for "mars bar" turns up one very interesting, very nsfw result, among others.

Does Venus have water? Because I'm seriously thinking of moving there.

I saw a hyperbolic e-mail like the one you're talking about posted to a wall in the church that I play gigs at. I didn't really believe it, because, you know, everything else on the walls seemed pretty farfetched too.

It's close but not as close as it was a few years ago.

D'oh! This will go down in the list of thread-titles-I-most-regret alongside "this is what it sounds like when doves cry".

Nick, wait about 50,000 years and you can revive the thread!

I got the same email, and didn't believe it either. But thanks for the link!

There does seem to be an unusual amount of aggression in the air.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Thursday, 28 July 2005 21:24 (twenty years ago)

I saw a near fist-fight at a felafel stand today. (Not really that near, but "If I didn't have a broken foot I'd knock you out," "You're just a coward that's all. Go ahead and hit me." Etc.) And a homeless man with one lens in his glasses allegedly assaulted a patron at the library today.

I took this of it two years ago on 3x zoom out of my window. Amazed me.

Mars needs guitars.

Apparently.

By the time you finish reading this sentence, you'll be 25 miles closer to the planet Mars.

Back at the 2003 close approach I hung out with the LA Astronomical Society and drew this picture of Mars while I was looking through one of the 24" reflectors they had set up on Mt. Pinos.
