ILX SCOTTISH (Yes, Scottish) Fantasy Football League 2005-2006

I know the season is about to kick off but I've discovered a free fantasy football league for the SPL, http://www.higgsitsolutions.co.uk/ff/game.asp, usual thing i.e 50 mil to spend on 11 players and a manager, only 2 players from each SPL team blah, blah, blah You can read the rest of the rules on their site.

I've set up an invitational league, ILX Allstars, the PIN is 0912502467 if you wish to join.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Friday, 29 July 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

Woohoo!

I'm doing this now. I see Sportsound still appears fuXor3d.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 29 July 2005 10:28 (twenty years ago)

I'll put a team in as well.

Aye, the Sportsound Predictor mob are dragging their feet. Doesn't look as if they're going to have it up and running for the first set of fixtures. That's what you get for having no faith in me.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 29 July 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

Bless you all and your Scottish fantasies :)

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 29 July 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

The interface for this is pretty heavy going.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 29 July 2005 10:42 (twenty years ago)

Yeah! I'm top of the league!

scotstvo (scotstvo), Friday, 29 July 2005 13:36 (twenty years ago)

I have registered but I cannae figure out how to make my team, maybe it's my crap work computer but "My Team" won't click for me. Hmmm.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

Clicking My Team should bring up a drop down menu with another My Team link. Maybe your work computer is blocking the script.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:47 (twenty years ago)

that appears to be the case, although "League" works just fine. also, cannot figure out how to actually join the ILX league, although with no players that doesn't really matter. also, I know NOTHING about Scottish football.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

The 'My Team' area also has a 'My Leagues' option in the drop down, where you put in the PIN.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

well, that's it then; i'll have to wait until i get home. (unless you can type in the URL for 'my team'; i tried putting that in place of "links' in the URL but it didn't work for nothing.)

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 29 July 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

(I think)

Team:

http://www.higgsitsolutions.co.uk/ff/game.asp?action=viewteam

Leagues:

http://www.higgsitsolutions.co.uk/ff/game.asp?action=choosemyleague

(You may have issues with asp pages in which case this still won't work)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 29 July 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

yeah now i can see "my team" but cannot actually select anybody. i'll try it this weekend.

OMG "Danny Invincible"?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 29 July 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

I've signed up

Greig (treefell), Friday, 29 July 2005 18:24 (twenty years ago)

Copied from the SPL predictions thread in case anyone's interested:

The BBC Sportsound Predictor Competition is now up and running.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/sportscotland/predictor/

The first game is Celtic losing to Motherwell at 1230 tomorrow so make sure you get your entries in asap.

Don't forget to join the ILX mini league:
Minileague Name:
ILX SPL League

Password:
27tt2tew

Good luck!

When you enter a mini league name just enter 'ILX' and it will find it. Search function doesn't seem to like space characters.

Ignore the one called "ILX" - that was some idiot (ahem) thinking he'd messed up and created duplicate entries.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 29 July 2005 20:23 (twenty years ago)

Hurrah! I'm in for both!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 30 July 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

Manager of the week trophy for me, please! You boys are all rubbish at this, being beaten by a GIRL! (watch as egg connects swiftly with face in a couple of weeks)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 21:49 (twenty years ago)

Why did Alan Thompson lose me points this week?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

(I think) Midfielders lose a point for goals conceded. Celtic conceded four.

I'm shite at this game, bring back my predictions league I say!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 08:08 (twenty years ago)

I know NOTHING about Scottish football.
-- Haikunym (zinogu...), July 29th, 2005 4:48 PM. (Haikunym)

Yes, but you doing better than everyone who isn't me. I totally rule this! Top of teh league and that's before all my zillion points for two of my defenders scoring this week. This is making up for my shiteness at the predictions thing.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 14 August 2005 23:01 (twenty years ago)

I've joined up on the predictor league as I was doing that anyway and just realised that ilx had a league on the go. Missed the first round of fixtures though. Well done to Onimo on leading the whole competition at this stage!

mms (mms), Monday, 15 August 2005 06:13 (twenty years ago)

Warning: if you "accidentally" remove a player from your team, it doesn't give you the option to change your mind. I thought it would have a "confirm" button or something, but no, I just wasted a whole transfer keeping Gary Caldwell in my team. And he's shite, but I am hoping this run of rubbishness for Hibs won't last.

Hat-trick for Stilian Petrov today, as I've just dropped him in favour of Alan Thomson.

Also, I'm 26th overall on this. Out of everyone. Yay!

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 20 August 2005 07:17 (twenty years ago)

Well 4 Arabs 5, lord knows what that'll do to my scores.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Saturday, 20 August 2005 14:58 (twenty years ago)

Hat-trick for Stilian Petrov today, as I've just dropped him in favour of Alan Thomson.

yeah, that was a good idea...

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 20 August 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

I just wasted a whole transfer keeping Gary Caldwell in my team. And he's shite, but I am hoping this run of rubbishness for Hibs won't last.

Bollocks. When I was off on holiday and not reading the papers, he seems to have done himself a nasty injury and is out for eight weeks. So I've wasted a transfer by putting him out and bringing him in, and he isn't even likely to play again until about October. Bollocky bollockness.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 21 August 2005 11:54 (twenty years ago)

Poor Ailsa! You've only got seven squillion points!

scotstvo (scotstvo), Sunday, 21 August 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

But I want to WIN! (even though there doesn't appear to be a prize)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 21 August 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

Bah. Caldwell out for two months, Barry Ferguson injured for a while, Alan Thomson suspended, and to cap it all, Killie have thoughtlessly sold Kris Boyd to Cardiff with no regard at all for my Fantasy Football team prospects.

In other news, Julyan Sinclair appears to be presenting the fans chat section of Scotsport SPL from a gay sauna. And, in a total non-shocker, Gerry McNee is advocating a minimum six match ban for Neil Lennon, following by stripping him of the captaincy (because no Rangers captains ever get sent off in Old Firm games) and a possible public flogging in George Square.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

Poor Ailsa! You've only got seven squillion points!
-- scotstvo

Yes. And you still have Jeremie Aliadiere in your team despite the fact that his phenomenal bench-warming skills have failed to impress the spotter of talent that is Gordon Strachan.

Note to others: I did transfers on Saturday morning. They don't appear to have registered, meaning I got to do some more this week and I don't appear to have been shafted due to rash intended transfer in of Alan Thompson for the Old Firm fiasco game.

Which means I still get to get rid of Kris Boyd and Gary Caldwell. Huzzah!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 26 August 2005 22:04 (twenty years ago)

I was just coming to that. Thanks.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Saturday, 27 August 2005 07:42 (twenty years ago)

Talking of which, since when am I bottom of the league? This is like déjà vu.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Saturday, 27 August 2005 07:45 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
I am TEH SEVENTH BEST PLAYER IN TEH WORLD!!! As Onimo slips down the rankings in the Sportsound Predictor, so I creep up the rankings in Fantasy SPL. And I don't even have Rudi Skacel in my team.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 19 September 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

Killie have thoughtlessly sold Kris Boyd to Cardiff with no regard at all for my Fantasy Football team prospects.

Except they apparently haven't since he just scored twice for them in the CIS Cup.

I liked the minute when Rangers were being beaten by Clyde at Ibrox. Ceefax has extra time being played in St Mirren v Motherwell currently, yet no mention of same at Ibrox. And Rangers have scored in the 98th minute. Does this mean they really *have* added on 10 minutes stoppage time since Rangers are not beating a (bully) wee team?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 20 September 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

Kris Boyd and Derek Riordan were both sold to Cardiff but couldn't agree personal terms.

Why not? Well, given they play for Killie and Hibs the answer is obvious. TEH LURE OF TEH PIE.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 08:43 (twenty years ago)

Oh shit, Onimo, I just remembered we missed FREE PIES!!!

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 21 September 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

Bugger!

I blame the person who suggested changing pubs!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 22 September 2005 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Oh, OK. Even though I blame the person who forgot to remind me about the free pies. I bet their quiz machine wasn't fixed to eat virtual pies either. We were confounded by lack of pies all night (notable exception = John Hartson, obviously).

Incidentally, that wee diddy so-shite-that-Burchill-got-a-hat-trick-against-them-in-about-four-seconds team you were trying to remember was Jeunesse Esch.

Does Strophic still post here? I'm needing a Hearts fan to laugh at. "Where's your treble gone, where's your treble gone" etc...

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 September 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

I would never, ever laugh at a Hearts fan.*

*Except for half an hour ago in the pub, obviously**

**And the centenary season, equally obviously. How funny was that?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 22 September 2005 20:16 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
I AM TEH BEST IN THE WORLD (despite having Alex McLeish as my fantasy manager and having Bazza Ferguson sent off on Saturday).

(names googleproofed by me to protect the innocent)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 30 November 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

I knew this would be an ailsa post. :-)

Congrats, I have turned out to be rubbish at this, despite having Wee Gogs as my manager and Paul Hartley.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 December 2005 04:41 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
I am still teh best in the world! 37 points clear of the dude in second, and a staggering 235 points ahead in teh ILX league! Why aren't there any prizes? Perhaps all participating ILXors could buy me beer?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 11 March 2006 14:28 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
I am really properly teh best in the world.

I want a prize!

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 11 May 2006 18:30 (twenty years ago)

Congratulations to ailsa and all her supporters on this fantastic achievement!

Onimo,
ILX Scottish Football Predictions Champion 2004-2005, 2005-2006

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 11 May 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

Yes. ILX champion. Not teh whole world champion :-)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 11 May 2006 21:43 (twenty years ago)

One. Season. Wonder.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:21 (twenty years ago)

Piss off. Don't you have packing to do or something? :-P

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:22 (twenty years ago)

Aye :)

I'm killing time here while I do last minute burning of disks I promised aldo.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:31 (twenty years ago)

Haha, guess why I'm awake as well.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:40 (twenty years ago)

I'm awake because I'm stubbornly refusing to go to bed and try and sleep until I actually feel tired. Have fun, I shall text updates of teh Gretna v Hearts game if required.

As discussed last night, I cannot believe that this isn't on the telly. C'mon, it's a film about a wee team with a couple of past-it SPL players in it who fluke their way to a Scottish Cup Final. Robert Duvall IS Rowan Alexander! Ally McCoist IS James Grady! Michael Keaton IS Brooks Mileson! etc.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:46 (twenty years ago)

Best thing on that imdb listing = Henrik Larsson .... Himself (picture on the wall)

That, and the thought of Andy Smith's big lugs on the big screen. Was he actually playing the part of the cup?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:51 (twenty years ago)

I admit, I'm just up because I'm pissed (ask Gerry about the first pre-Camber night back in the flat for my form here) and should really be in bed, but the comedy value of the answer was too high. The discs were, of course, burnt some time ago.

HE HAS ALL YOUR DISCS. Unless try glasgow more comes up with date/venue (I'm leaning towards the Sunday night, personally) he's yer man.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

But I am going to bed now, in the hope of a couple of hours before I pick him up.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:54 (twenty years ago)

Somewhat bizarrely this isn't his only film credit as a picture!

"Decemberdröm, En" (2005) TV Series .... Himself/Picture

http://imdb.com/name/nm1418875/
Why aren't the Henke DVDs listed on his IMDB thing?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:55 (twenty years ago)

Cheers - we have already discussed the "let's go and watch the Champions League final and you can give me my DVDs and it's not just an excuse for mid-week boozing at all, oh no" plan. Any day at all for Glasgow-FAP suits me as I probably don't have a job. Though if I get a job, Sunday would probably be a bad day. Turning up hungover on my first day = a fair indicator of the sort of employee I'll be a bad idea.

You have an odd concept of comedy value, you really *are* pissed. (xpost)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 11 May 2006 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Oh noes scary aldo driving to Camber!

ask Gerry about the first pre-Camber night back in the flat

Let's just say my hangover was so bad I was incapable of being a passenger and I've no idea how Al managed to do stuff like keep his eyes open and drive and not throw up for 3 hours.
Sample quote from the previous evening "The thing about rum & coke is you don't want to drown it, four parts rum to one part coke is ideal" - and that was after a night in the pub.
