So. The feller gets through the quarter-finals of the 100m at the World Athletics Championships as the slowest of the fastest losers. He then qualifies by finishing fourth in his semi-final, again with the slowest time of all the qualifiers.

And then he goes and wins the bronze medal. Kim's response "Don't EVER let ME in the FINAL!"

Previously he has been the world 100m champion in 2003 by taking on and beating the best sprinters in the world from the inside lane, taking the title in the joint-slowest ever winning time at a world championships. He also became the Commonwealth 100m champion the year before, after the massively-hyped clash of Dwain Chambers and Mark Lewis-Francis ended with them both pulling up with cramp, leaving Kim and his calf-length socks to sprint to the glory. When Wee Hazel asked him if they'd be partying in Saint Kitts & Nevis, Kim replied "In St Kitts, they will be drunk already."

Add to this the fact that Kim is built like a greyhound as opposed to, say, Maurice Greene; He's always smiling and laughing before the race as opposed to, say, Maurice Greene; when he's running seems to be incapable of stopping his head from wagging about furiously as opposed to the whole Linford Christie "do not look to the side do not take a breath YOU ARE THE MACHINE" approach; and just generally seems to be Not A Complete Prick, which seems to be completely at odds with modern track & field...

Kim Collins Is Most Excellent.

Note - when I said Modern Track & Field, I think I specifically meant the 100 metres for men. There are lots of other not-a-complete-pricks throughout the rest of the sport. I doubt that Colin Jackson is one of them, though.

Agreed. The sight of him and Michael Frater laughing at the end of the race when they were up for silver and bronze (Frater won it by a hair's breadth - they were both given the same time) was a joy.

It's refreshing to see a successful guy in this event who so obviously has his priorities sorted. It would be nice to see a few more like him.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Colin Jackson!
