Dr. Glen Y. Abreu (dr g), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 06:04 (twenty years ago)

THIS IS DETROIT IN CASE Y'ALL FORGOT

gear (gear), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 06:05 (twenty years ago)

Funniest trailer in eons. The young white kid looks a generation younger than Wahlberg, and excess '80s conditioner.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 12:31 (twenty years ago)

is this the one about the tigers?

N_RQ, Tuesday, 9 August 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

it's the sons of katie elder remake

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

I can't imagine any possible way that this movie won't be a toxic pile of unwatchable shit.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

THIS IS DETROIT IN CASE Y'ALL FORGOT

I have been saying this at random moments for the past week or so, to the annoyance of everyone around me.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

Welcome to the not-OC. Or something.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

WHO ARE YOU PROTECTING

gear (gear), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

MMmm Bop. Mmmm Bop.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

I do have to admire the amount of chutzpah necessary to even countenance the idea of selling Tyrese as a hardass.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:19 (twenty years ago)

WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO KILL THE SWEETEST WOMAN ALIVE

Coitus hilarious

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

it's actually hamilton, where the movie was shot, and toronto!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

ok the funny thing is that the most popular grocery store chain in mtl is called four brothers

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

i'm seeing it tomorrow

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

Batman?

gear (gear), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

Don't these guy realize when they adapt old Westerns they are often inherently implausible in a contemporary urban setting?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

see one assault on precinct 13 (the original)!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:03 (twenty years ago)

I did. It essentially sucks, at least after the little girl gets blown away; certainly not a pimple on the butt of "Rio Bravo."

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

it so does not suck!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

s1ock1, just ignore him. It's all you can do.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

but it doesn't suck!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

SHE WAS THE ONLY WOMAN WHO EVER GAVE A DAMN!

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, ignore me and my lack of movie 'populism' or whatever, sez some brave idiot who calls himself n/a.

Don't they actually show Mom knitting in the trailer?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

Dr Morbius & Mr Hongro

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Asshole.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

You are not giving Geir enough credit here.

x-post

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

I admit all I knew about this movie was a bus poster and now thanks to this thread I'm perversely intrigued.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Singleton's a pretty weak director, tho occasionally he'll get some nice work in (the opening shot of "Baby Boy", for instance). I don't see anything interesting in this movie tho.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

(and the only thing I want to see Andre 3000 in is that rumored Hughes Bros/Jimi Hendrix biopic - tho even then Andre in a Sly biopic would be 100% BETTER)

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

Biopics sucks, I guarantee Four Brothers will be more entertaining than either of these projects. And that's not saying much.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

The occasional biopic works (Ed Wood f'r instance). But mostly they do sink without trace.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

well, I love "The Doors", for example...

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 9 August 2005 16:27 (twenty years ago)

five years pass...

love this movie

da croupier, Friday, 15 April 2011 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

sadly nobody seems to want to put mark wahlberg bully-banter on youtube, just the tearful death stuff and photo montages set to bands two degrees from nickleback

da croupier, Friday, 15 April 2011 19:16 (fifteen years ago)

the idea of criminals driving out into the middle of one of the frozen great lakes for a meeting is pretty dope. good shootouts. josh charles gets the ending i'd been waiting for one of his characters to get for decades.

omar little, Friday, 15 April 2011 22:19 (fifteen years ago)

can't think about this movie without getting the Young Dro verse stuck in my head where he goes "NAH THIS AIN'T A MOVIE BUT I SHOT FOUR BROTHERS"

some dude, Saturday, 16 April 2011 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

the car chase where they're fighting the snow more than each other is one of my favorites ever. Also points for the scene where Andre 3000 acknowledges his incongruous accent when seeing his birth certificate.

da croupier, Saturday, 16 April 2011 13:18 (fifteen years ago)

and despite my complaint about youtube just being weepy jack/bobby mercer montages, that scene where they all picture their mom at the table is a four-hankie if you disagree go to tell your mom.

da croupier, Saturday, 16 April 2011 13:21 (fifteen years ago)

also one of two movies that climax with mark wahlberg in a big-ass coat, walking out of the frozen nothing towards a the bad guys

da croupier, Saturday, 16 April 2011 13:24 (fifteen years ago)

snow car chase is all-time

VegemiteGrrl, Saturday, 16 April 2011 18:26 (fifteen years ago)
