need a prettier hair color

I had a champagne blonde color in my hair and had chuncky low lights of medium brown partially through my hair. Two members of my family says it looks grey instead of blonde and brown. What can I do to make the color prettier. My natural hair is dark blonde with 50% gray and I have a fair complexion with blue eyes.
