Don't smoke on the sidewalk, it bugs the shit out of me. Go over to that bench in that little park. Relax and enjoy your smoke, don't rush.

I say this as a smoker, GO STAND IN THE ALLEY and stop blowing that in my face please.

Some guy had a letter to the editor in the NYT a while back that basically advocated banning smoking outdoors -- apparently he couldn't stand for having smoke drift by his face while getting off the subway. I kind of liked the thought of this amazing new world where pedestrians are the only entities not allowed to release fumes into the atmosphere.

i don't smoke, but walking is the time when smoking seems most appealing! especially in the winter, when i see people walking by and smoking, i envy them, those smokers

Isn't the whole point of smoking that you do it nonchalantly? So it seems like a dud to make a special point of going out of your way to smoke, making a stop in an alley or on a bench to smoke. You should smoke when you walk, like it's no big thing.

i sometimes smoke quicker when i stand still to do it. as enjoyable as a cigarette is, sometimes you just wanna get it over with so you can get about your day. a walking smoke is far more leisurely because it doesn't matter how long it takes you to finish it, you've got walking to do anyway!

You know, I guess I don't really smoke when I'm alone, so that might tip my reaction one way. But even when I've been walking with people and smoking, I feel like the cigarette's gone quickly and I didn't get much pleasure out of it.
