There's a grain a truth there, though. I got stung at a Little League game once and one of my teammates' dads game over with a cigarette and spit on it and ground it into the sting. My parents were horrified but they let him do it. I remember him telling me at the time that ragweed also works, but I never got a chance to test that theory.

this happened to me when i was 8 or something, kinda freaky but obv. got tons of attention & sympathy for like an hour, so overall good experience. i remember hoding something to my eye, probably the baking soda thing.

What good do wasps do, anyway? Lots of insects have a useful purpose in life but wasps seem only to do negative things such as causing physical pain, being responsible for beer wastage, domestic violence against unsuspecting girlfriends, and furthering the career of Holly Johnson.
