they dont overly dwell on early 30s nationalistic/anti-jew period or his yetisyny theory, but fairly, do address both;

i had never heard of him & watched the Netflix doc last nighthonestly i had a feeling that the nationalist shoe would drop at some point v early in the doc. you could just tell that would be a thing.but it was really wild how Glenn Bray is like “well, he wasnt anti semitic around ME” … and part of me is thinking, ok but does he ~have~ to be? for his already documented antisemitism to be a problem for bray specifically? just those lines people are willing to draw for themselves. and being so enamored with the artalso they establish pretty effectively how compartmentalized szukalski was depending on the company he kept. i mean, maintaining such a close friendship w Hecht ffs. it was weird to watch it all play outplus Szukalski is just broadly fkn ~out there~ in general, like from the off! studying his dad’s corpse for anatomy reference? jesus. and the bizarre but unsettling theories on evolution, the Easter Island & yeto stuff… i dunno. it’s kooky yes but also super dark. like if they had said he was a eugenicist i wouldnt have been surprisedamazing sculptures & art for sure but… jesus christ
