Apparently, I have a secret admirer on Bowlie...

... which I'm assuming is a way for the site's mods to get traffic moving: you're supposed to reciprocate by registering admiration for someone else, and they'll tell you if you've by chance matched up with your admirer.

I don't even remember why I signed up, truth be told - must one be a fully-paid up member of the B&S Fan Club to have fun on Bowlie? Is there anything on there that I can't get out of talking with you fine folks?

I am not signed up, but I feel sure I would have many secret admirers.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

Ha, I signed up for Bowlie too and I can't recall why. Every time I log in I forget what I wanted to look at. And also, I am avatar-less and quote-less. No crushes for me.

Bowlie is appalling, always has been, and the fact that they need to use this kind of gimmick to get things moving is indicative of what a waste of time it is.

Or maybe it's because everyone on Sinister GOT SO MUCH ACTION that they're belatedly trying to catch up.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

i have many, many admirers on bowlie

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't there that whole crush vote thing on Sinister, though?

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but that was when Sinister was pretty much at its peak.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

I think I'll stick to ILX.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:00 (twenty years ago)

i got 2 admirations from asking for a couple of tickets about a year ago.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, receiving a list crush vote on Sinister was much better. Because I got loads of them.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

it's better when you can only vote once though.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

All mine were from different people. Not like *some people* who topped the list crush charts by casting multiple votes FOR THEMSELVES. (not that Belle and Sebastian fans have a history of multiple voting and fixing things at all, oh no, not us)

Sad factoid: Our chalet at Bowlie had more list crush votes between them than the rest of Sinister put together. Possibly. I'm sure someone counted it.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

Our chalet at Bowlie is also fully represented on this very community (at least, it is when Kevan posts)!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

It is indeed. Is that unique too, or was there some uberchalet featuring Jerry the Nipper, TimH, SteadyMike and Koogs? There are certainly photos suggesting this.

There was definitely a sign which said Don't Shilly Chalet, which was better than anything we came up with.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

In fact, was Steady Mike even *at* Bowlie? My mind is quite fuzzy about that whole weekend.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

I think he was, Ailsa, because I've met him and that's the only time I've been to Lunnon.

We shared a shally with Racheeeee and Papa JJ, so ours was possibly the LOUDEST chalet but probably not the most crushed-on. Seeing as how they are a decorously married couple of responsible adults (and always were). Granted most of the wkend is a blur, courtesy of the Queen Vic and a glimmering veil of camaraderie sought & found & drunk to.a

Laurel, Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

my lack of crush votes is depressing me
who IS koogs?

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:47 (twenty years ago)

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

i still think it's better when you can only send one crush vote per person

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 16 August 2005 18:33 (twenty years ago)

for the record, jenn, i totally have a crush on you. in fact, i have ten. every time I see think of you it's butterflies in my tum and daydreams of kittens, limited edition seven inches and *our favorite band* opening every show i would see with you. a haiku for jenn:

you fill my heart with hand claps
no, kids, not *that* clap
