Tell me about KVM switches.

I have a Mac G4 Quicksilver, and a brand-new, home-built Pentium 4 made with a Shuttle XPC case. Operating systems are Panther 10.3.9 and Windows XP, respectively. I have a Samsung LCD screen, a Mac Pro Keyboard, and a Microsoft Trackball Explorer mouse.

I've tried two KVM USB boxes:

The Iogear randomly dropped the Microsoft mouse when I switched between computers. The Belkin, for some reason, did not allow me to use the mouse & keyboard with my PC.

Both computers work without fail indvidually, so I know that's not the issue.

I've already posted a query in my favourite Mac geek forum, but any help would be seriously appreciated.

I've seen that Belkin working fine in a similar setup. Could yrs be bust?
