jimmy mod is otm, but so fkn what! loads of fun. and it's not that hipstery actually; there are leagues for it, i've played in one for three seasons in a row. it's for ppl who aren't even good enough for softball or don't want to bother with softball. plus you can, you know, meet people and get to know them, if you like.

the grounder is powerful cos the big ball is hard to field; anything down the third base line is a guaranteed single unless you're reeaaally slow. if you're in the outfield, run the ball into the dirt before throwing it. keep the ball in front of you, a little razzle dazzle on the basepaths, you'll be good to go.

geoff, yr absolutely right, the league here is so unhipster. mostly a bunch of restaurant/bar teams, from all walks of life. it was totally fun!
