I just saw Samurai Rebellion at Film Forum's Summer Samurai thing and it knocked me off my ass. Beautiful photography and, perhaps, the most engaging samurai plot I've ever seen. I noticed that Criterion just released Harakari and is realeasing SR next month. Besides Harakari, what else of his should I see?

Kwaidan is unforgivably long for an anthology of ghost storys, but is generally mesmerizing. That's all I've seen, though. Netflix not having disc two of the three part Human Condition put that screening on hiatus.

I disagree Eric, Kwaidan's just long enough (they cut one of the stories on initial US release). Seeing Samurai Rebellion tonight.
