I'm Never Gonna Dance Again (also, Summer Injury Thread)

My bad ankle (left one, rolled and broken already multiple times) is fucking DONE son - while walking down to parking lot, I tripped while idiotically rooting thru my backpack. Three successive cracks/pops, immediate overwhelming incapacitation despite lots of experience w pretty horrific sports injuries (I can walk off dislocations/flesh wounds in no time so this is def BAD), had to crawl to the garage door entrance where I gave up and called for help back to my elevator, I'm back on my couch now with a getto-rigged self-splint. The Uni hospital is closed and I cannot afford to spend hours at Vancouver General, so I'm prob not going anywheres. Dunno if it's broken or just severely sprained - my physical pain tolerance is abnormally high so I'll have to wait for tmrws xrays - already called a homie who's on his way w Tensor and icepacks and if it gets unbearable I guess I'll have to get a ride to L"HOPITALLLL. So basically I'm fucked for a minute, fuck the world and all that

I took a chunk out of my toe at a water park on this years hol, also got a bad case of the ass skoots, I ripped my knee open diving into shallow water, Kev done the same to his chin, and my mum poked a lump out of her forehead on a dodgy parasol. Then Kev accidentaly burnt my thigh with his fag and landed heavily on top of me after some drunken skylarking.

One of the best holidays I've ever had. Sigh.

Not broken, but massive tissue damage, any weight put on it will shred the ankle goodstyle for a few days so I gotta rock the bootie steez. The bad news: I can't dance for two weeks. The good news: I can dance in two weeks!

You're not a nurse.

I have a friend who's a nurse, but she's off at Burning Man right now, keeping the desert bright.

Anyway, LC, lots of luck.

Frank! Mailing you soon bro. Thanks everyone, I'm healing alright (down to a mini splint I can fit in sandals) - though I have to move into a new place on Monday on this bastard ankle, THAT is going to be heeelarious.

LeCoq (LeCoq), Sunday, 28 August 2005 07:19 (twenty years ago)

Good luck, LC! My injuries this summer have been psychological/psychogeographic ones, but they're starting to heal. I think the scars will be around for awhile, though. You may shrug, but sometimes those cuts are harsh.

Maura has been acquainting herself with the ACE bandages recently, she should post pics.

Good luck dude. Thought I sprained my ankle on uneven sidewalk a couple months ago, but it was EXTREMELY painful and swollen and turned out to be a hairline fracture in my foot! Healed by itself... SLOWLY. Luckily I have insurance, but I looked at what Cedars charged my HMO for x-rays: $600.
