V-Neck T-Shirts

Why is it that the one time you want a manufacturer to make something a little skimpier--to give you a little less of something--instead they give you too much, so that your t-shirt shows if you are wearing a dress shirt with the top button undone?

G-NECKS

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 02:05 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...

I've been looking for one recently and apparently it's impossible to find a v-neck for men that's cut a bit deeper, but not this thing

Jena, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

Ha. Yeah, I've become a v-neck believer in the last year b/c I want an undershirt to soak up all my dudesweat, but not show underneath a top shirt or t-shirt.

Jordan, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

my bro has a couple of these very deep v-neck tshirts (made for guys) - from club monaco i think but last year or year before that
i am of little help here, just saying they exist
(and also they do look kinda gay. but some straight guys can pull that off)

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

guidos?

kenan, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

(i mean, that is, if you're just wearing them alone and not as undershirts)
xpost

no!
gross

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:40 (eighteen years ago)

though i'll say that the deep v-neck does go with guidos and they are pulling off a look but that that look is not so good and every guy should be careful with the use of the deep v-neck therefore

river wolf, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

like, 15 of them in my closet

river wolf, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

Some straight guys can pull that off. My guess is that you would be one of them.

kenan, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

Great straight accessory for a v-neck t-shirt: a shotgun.

kenan, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

ok the deep v-neck t-shirts i'm talking abt are both deep v and wide v

(oh man so many dirty jokes)

jena, does the AmApparel summer deep v not work for you?

http://store.americanapparel.net/6456.html

jed_, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

I wear v-necks as undershirts with button-down collared shirts. I don't really like how they look on me by themselves.

o. nate, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

I just stumbled upon that link too, i should have thought of it before, thanks.

Jena, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

the kind of v-neck tees you get at the gap, etc., are gonna show, but v-neck undershirts (the 3-in-a-pack kind) should be mostly out of sight, especially if purchased slightly large, as long as you're leaving just one button undone

OK, I finally have a man. A child molester, but a man nonetheless

humansuit, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

i'd probably wear these if it weren't for my incongruously hairy chest.

will, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

see, I'd look like a child molester

will, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

incongruously hairy chest
RIGHT THERE WITH YA BRO

The Macallan 18 Year, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

Will and 18 - braid and bead, my friends. That's the secret to a healthy chest-hair showcase.

I believe they should use that in the next beer commercial, about the most interesting man, you know.

Oh hell, wrong thread! This was for the t-shirt dress thread.

I can post more Courtney pix though I don't think she ever wore a v neck t-shirt ever

daria-g, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure that every male mentioned on the cover is a v-neck aficionado, tho.

humansuit, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

i have like 6 v-necks and theyre great. chicks like em way more than youd think.

max, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:42 (eighteen years ago)

well that's true

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)

I suspect the only thing that keeps people from converting en masse is that unless you're really cool with your upper-body musculature/skin/hair, it takes that tiny bit more work to get the right cut of V.

nabisco, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

so many Vs so little time

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 22:54 (eighteen years ago)

I've found that it's difficult to find one that will give you just the right chance of having that "oops" nipple slip moment, so yeah, I agree.

humansuit, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 23:18 (eighteen years ago)

you've never seen my boobs

kenan, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 23:21 (eighteen years ago)

I have never worn a v-neck. I don't think I could pull it off. Maybe I'll get a deep V.

Jeff, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 23:58 (eighteen years ago)

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

but really, you shouldn't be thinking about it too much, it goes againt the spirit of the V

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

im wearing a plain white v right now btw

max, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 14:08 (eighteen years ago)

I found one I loved (http://www.amazon.com/C-IN2-Pima-Cotton-T-Shirt-117_1111/dp/B000FGXZTC/ref=sr_1_7/102-2986784-3724926?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1183558090&sr=8-7), but it seems to have been discontinued. (Not sure why they are still offering it on amazon. I tried getting it from them and it was unavailable, and then I tried getting it from the distributor that handles it for them, and it was unavailable.)

American Apparel makes an okay one. I think I am going to go with that.

I don't know why I said "t-shirt" in the title when I meant undershirt. I never say "t-shirt" instead of "undershirt." I would never wear one as outer wear, since I don't have the torso for it. (Chest is okay, but the gut has to go.)

Rockist Scientist, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

Right, someone already mentioned the American Apparel one. But that other one was very nicely made, and it made me look about as good as I can look at the moment (showed off the chest while being somewhat diplomatic about the gut).

Rockist Scientist, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)

but really, you shouldn't be thinking about it too much, it goes againt the spirit of the V

so otm

How am I not on this thread?

I love the plain Hanes Vneck on men. Shirt off is too much, you can't look -- or at least you can't savor. But Vnecks just hint at collarbones, a teeny bit of chest, you get a blaze of forearms and then...simple clean cotton.
