Spaten is fantastic

In Montery, CA, we were alerted to a fantastic german restaurant by a cabdriver on a lucky afternoon home from the mall or some such, and then found ourselves there the next weekend, and they served all varieties of Spaten in liters, big fat heavy glass liters, with lots of excellently prepared knockwurst and bratwurst and whoknowswhatwurst and kraut and radishes and potatoes like you wouldn't believe. Especially for california, you wouldn't believe it at all. I got hella blasted on 3L of Spaten Munchen and Devon had 3 too but he weighs 50-70lbs more than I do plus he's Dutchboy to start with, it was unfair, in a sense. All of it was fucking fantastic and you, sir, are completely correct.

German beers are second only to Belgian beers.

I drink local most of the time (shoutout to Real Ale Brewing Company's Full Moon Pale Rye Ale in particular) and generally prefer, as I like to say, a beer like me: cold, red, bitter, and big-headed. But when I was picking up these brats at the grocery store, I knew that something more traditional was called for.

Sounds like the two cookouts I have to attend this weekend. Good beer, better grilled meat products.

Here comes fall, y'all. Time to put on those winter coats.

full moon pale rye ale sounds like it could be pretty amazing... i'll have to keep my eyes open if i ever end up anywhere near texas.

one of my local pizza places just put hacker-pschorr octoberfest on their rotating tap. not only is autumn here, but it's tasty!

I almost had to fuck some dudes up at the bar last night when they told me they didn't have Pilsner Urquell on tap anymore, but then I saw that they had replaced it with Spaten, which they were selling pitchers of for like four fucking dollars less than the PU. Hells yeah.

I haven't tried Spaten Oktoberfest, I'll make it a priority. A local German restaurant/bar place has been a godsend as far as getting my fill of beer. The logistics of killing off more than one liter mug (!) of beer is tricky though.

man i just ate and this is making me hungry again. or at least thirsty for spaten. i could use a few in a shady, breezy garten. the closest (as far as i know) german place is an hour away though. boo.

MM, the Spaten and 'wurst at that huge beer garden in Queens is classic. Cheap and cheery, and you can dance at PS1 afterwards!

ten months pass...
Got me some brats again! And a sixer of Independence Bootlegger Brown. I hope I'm not playing with fire here, mixing German style food and British style beer.
