I think one night I am going to try to have some drinks with some bros.
Mostly I am visiting the ladyfriend's family (who I have not met.)

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Sunday, 28 August 2005 22:42 (twenty years ago)

four weeks pass...
What did Ian think of his first trip to the West Coast?

Cristal Waters (nordicskilla), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

I missed this thread completely.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 26 September 2005 19:00 (twenty years ago)

So did I, which is appropriate, because I also did not hang out with Ian when he was down here.

kurt broder (dr g), Monday, 26 September 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

fucking dingelberry BAILED..

my trip was good! I met my girlfriend's family; her sister and brother-in-law are both amazing people. Her mom is precious.

-We went to the La Brea tar pits (ruled to see LIVE EXCAVATION, and also the museum was great. the terrarium thingee inside the museum had the cleanest air I inhaled my entire trip.)
-The Getty Center was gorgeous and amazing, and I need to go back. We didn't even cover half of the exhibits. Loved the gardens! Thought the fountains were fun.
-We spent most of the time in the valley. Bleh.

I GO TO HANG OUT WITH OLDSCHOOL BRO (JE)REMY. we had sushi and i got drunk on asahi and sake cuz i am a lightweight.

i went to Amoeba, which was "ok." I can understand not letting me listen to the vinyl (logistical nightmare,) but how come I can't even inspect it to make sure it's scratch free? I still got some good stuff, though.. I think that was mostly chronicled on the noise board. Les Rallizes Denudes 2LP bootleg and Jandek LP were the most "exciting." Also got some 12"s and random inprint stuff. They had a nice selection of Harry Partch LPs.. a few of those used to be at the store I work at for only $250 apiece (as opposed to amoeba's $400.)
Where are my Ya Ho Wa 13 bootlegs? Also, $20 for a single LP Charley Patton reissue is outrageous.

Ate good mexican food constantly.
Bad driving. Scary driving.
The band NEW MAXIMUM DONKEY ruled.

I think my girlfriend's sister has a picture with Ned ragget in the background. From some film festival, where the LOTR Hobbits were.. the picture is of Christianna and one of 'em (can't remember which. not frodo or some tho.)

Santa Monica pier/boardwalk.. meh. The east coast has piers.

etc.
