Has anyone else gotten a profound urge to sashay and swing one's hips side to side (or, as the case may be, um, wearing pants, a stiff-collared shirt and derby hat, monocle optional)? Or, in the putting on of the other's mode of dress, that yes, this feels very, very right?

I have no intention of seriously pursuing this, but I'm a little interested in the drag king subculture. The image I have in mind is of a man in black tie, possibly with a top hat, ever so slightly disheveled and dissolute. But my body is much too feminine to achieve the sort of image I'd like.

That's a hot look!

Trayce, since you were a goth fashion plate in the day, can you give me a few suggestions? I've been collecting some gothy clothes for a rainy day -- I've got a leather choker and armwarmers -- what else do I need? Bustiers cost a lot!

For goth bois, a common look seems to be the wraparound style long skirt (black, usually), or maybe a long shapeless velvet one; I guess some guys feel better with that as no legs are showing ;P It isnt even a drag thing really: worn with fishnets and a tshirt and spiked cuffs and etc it can work nicely.

Some of my goth male friends rock the tartan mini and fishnet stockings damn nicely, but you gotta have the LAIGS to carry that off. I'd post photo examples but probably not polite to without their permission.

Corset can be a good investment, if yr prepared to train yr body into one, get it slowly tighter. Again, it can be worn with more masculine clothes if wanted.

Suprisingly I never saw a whole lot of trad drag queens in the goth scene, tho there were a couple. The look varied more from quite masculine (even with makeup and skirts) to a really ambiguous neither here nor there gender-look.

Girls in 40's Deitrich suits - rrroowrr.

I used to do this quite a bit back when I was a bit sexuality-conflicted. I had a fantastic collection of suits. However, because I had quite severe short hair, I just looked like a raging bulldyke instead of a cool Marlene Detrich character - or a skinny androgynous boy. I used to be able to get away with it when I was younger and thinner, but these days I just look like a big queen.

But then again, I feel like a drag queen when I wear really girly skirts and dresses anyway.

two weeks pass...
I really had an urge to get in drag tonight after reading that one Invisibles arc, but instead I watched baseball and wrestling.
