Gas Masks - a picture thread (possibly)

I hate them - they scare me. Especially the WW11 one the teacher brought into school. It scared us all, there was no horseplay with this piece of equipment.

I've never been scared by any Halloween mask or the like, but if someone wearing a gas mask was to come a-knocking on my door my arse would collapse.

I guess a lot of people are freaked by gas masks, the Dr Who episode kind of preyed on that.

Anyway, after a few recently released unscary horror movies I'm needing a scare. Post pics of gas masks please.

(you know, it's slightly worrying how much gas mask fetish porn is out there)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Monday, 29 August 2005 08:33 (twenty years ago)

Noooo... ewwwww - freaks!

Rumpie, Monday, 29 August 2005 09:00 (twenty years ago)

Well, there's probably *anything* fetish porn if you look hard enough; it's just surprising how popular the gas mask fetish stuff seems to be.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Monday, 29 August 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

Okay, are there uzi fetishists out there? Probably I think. Koala? Porcelain?

Have you seen Dead Man's Shoes with Paddy Considine?

That Dr Who ep with the gas masks was the most unsettling thing I've seen on primetime television in many many years. Horrible.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Monday, 29 August 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)

ewwww, these are very creepy looking and I am not sure whether it is the implication of the horror they are 'sposed to prevent or if it's just the creepy alienish look of the dern things.

Did anyone else read that short story in high school English class about a mother arguing bitterly with her daughter over whether the girl could leave the house without wearing "it," where "it" was revealed at the end to be a gas mask?

Laura H. (laurah), Monday, 29 August 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Well if you don't like gas masks I wouldn't watch Dead Man's Shoes. Or, since you are requesting people post pics of them, maybe you should...

Of all the posts I've ever made, if there's one I thought would have attracted comment it's that one.

Aldo, you have one of these contraptions at home? I couldn't sleep with that in the house!

Rumpie, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:21 (twenty years ago)

^^^ reminded me of this:

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:22 (twenty years ago)

Yes, I have one in the house. (Gerry has seen it and can confirm, I think, although that was the night of RUM HELL so he may not remember)The freakiest thing, I think, is the bit in the middle in front of the mouth - you can just make out the feeding tube coiled round it and plugged in at the bottom, and there's a tube inside as well to go in your mouth.

Frances got it as a present. Why, I cannot say.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

I remember seeing it through RED RUM EYES.

You should take it to ATP, might help with Hungover Toilet Sharing Mornings.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 11:41 (twenty years ago)

Mate of mine (aldo - that was Dave B) once attempted a DJ set in a gas mask, for reasons lost to history. He doesn't recommend it - decks rapidly obscured by condensation.
