Branaghs' Henry V is a wonderfully atmospheric and sombre film, far better than the jingoistic chestbeating of Olivier's version, IMHO.

Richard III is one of Shake's most fun plays, and Ian McKellen indeed has a lot of fun with it. The staging of several of the key scenes - in a morgue, at a urinal - is brilliant.

That said: "Throne of Blood"!!!

the branagh one is wierd; it's a really good turn of the 90s make-it-real production that he called anti-war, but doesn't feel that way at all (slo-mo of brian blessed beating dudes w a mace...)

i haven't seen the movie of the mckellan nazi HIII but i did see the stage version once upon a time and i thought it was fucking stupid. if yr interested in current politix then i'd stick with option A

Watch them both, you big crybaby. They're just movies. You sit on a couch and point yourself in the right direction and your job is done. You can even eat popcorn at the same time.
