I need to write a letter to the FW Modern begging them to bring this to their weekend film series.

Jeez, it's gonna be at FF for 2 weeks, calm down Ken. You'll live w/out seeing Almereyda & Egg.

three weeks pass...
What a garbage doc. Looks like the whole thing cost Almereyda about $500 to make on his crap hand-held video came with no crew or even sound equipment decent enough that you can hear what Eggleston is saying. Didn't spend too much time editing either.

Pretty obvious but shallow and completely off-mark attempt at paying homage to Eggleston's visual style in the style of the video. And watching an old self-absorbed alcoholic get drunk with a friend and acting undignified is not my idea of receiving insight into an artist's work. Why not just film him taking a dump, for crying out loud.

It was kind of interesting to learn that Eggleston takes very little time to frame or set up his shots and takes only one or two shots of each thing he sees. But whatever interesting material there was to be learned was sprinkled very sparsely throughout an otherwise aimless film.

I liked it.

Re sound, there's only so much you can do with a mumbler. At least on a miniscule budget.
