News Advisory:
Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller and Acting Assistant Attorney General John C. Richter of the Criminal Division will hold a press conference on TODAY, AUGUST 31, 2005 at 6 p.m. EDT on a terrorism matter.
WHO:
-- Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales
-- FBI Director Robert S. Mueller
-- Acting Assistant Attorney General John C. Richter of the Criminal Division WHAT: Press Conference
WHEN: TODAY, AUGUST 31 at 6 p.m. EDT
Hmm (as NRO world noted, you'd figure something was up to make some sort of press conference deal on this when everyone's paying attention to Katrina right now). So I scrounged and found this story:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Federal prosecutors are expected to seek terrorism-related charges Wednesday against four men in connection with an alleged plot in the Los Angeles, California, area, three sources told CNN.
The charges of conspiracy to commit terrorism are expected to be announced Wednesday after a federal grand jury returns an indictment.
The Justice Department and FBI refused to comment.
Three of the four men are in custody on separate charges. One of the men is Hammad Samana, a Pakistan native who was taken into custody earlier this month on charges that remain under seal.
The other two men are Gregory Patterson and Levar Washington, who were arrested after investigators linked the men through a dropped cell phone to a series of gas station robberies in the spring.
When Washington's home was searched, investigators found what some said may be a list of potential targets in the Los Angeles area, including three National Guard facilities, the Israeli consulate and two synagogues, law enforcement sources said previously.
Hmmm...
