After that giant squid discovery, the finding of hobbit jawbones, and the sighting of sea monsters in Lake Champlain last month, I have sadly become addicted to the following website, and you should, too:

I was similarly obsessed with this story (the "sea monster" found by the Japanese fishing boat that was so stinky that they had to throw it back).

The yeti needs a better press agent. Abominable? Hmmph! Cuddly, more like.

Fortean Times has a good online forum on cryptozoology. I go there when I get sick of you guys.

I love the bigfoot lore (being from that neck o' the woods) but don't believe, I'm afraid.

as a kid i loved checking out books on monsters and undiscovered critters and the like.

my favorite monster: goatman in prince georges county, maryland. hes more of a local boogeyman than a credible 'cryptid', but i'd love to write a story about him.

i'm also a life-long aficionado/buff of UFO mythology, imagery, and lore (i'm rather agnostic as to the reality of it).

Alex in NYC: that's a whale carcass dude!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 13 October 2005 23:56 (twenty years ago)

yeah, pretty much all of those 'sea monster' carcasses are wahales or sharks.

though i suppose you could call whales and sharks sea monsters if you wanted to.

actually i think my favorite cryptid is mokele-mbembe, the dinosaur-like creature that allegedly dwells deep within the Congo.

Joseph Zarzynski, the fellow what is or was the main Lake Champlain monster hunter, was a teacher at my middle school in Saratoga Springs. Cool guy by all accounts!

i used to watch Baby on video as a kid! i was really disappointed when my mom informed the dinosaurs weren't real, just robots.
