In the newest Chevy/GM ads, they say "im-PAL-a" but I've always pronounced it (and always heard it) "im-PAW-la"...

Who's right, me or the manufacturer?

NOW THROUGH SEPTEMBER YOU PAY WHAT WE PAY!!!

People who name their daughters Porsche pronounced PORSH?

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

I never understood "porsha." Porsh just sounds better.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 16:05 (twenty years ago)

Whatserface on SNL took that one to town: Hi-yun-day-ee.

Andy I think your options for Renault constitute "wrong" and "too French," respectively! Try "Ren-OH."

Got your weave done right, it's on so tight
Now it's on tonight, yeah, yeah
Right about now it's about that time for me to holler

ARRGH this "jah lion" bullshit. Seriously: surely Haile Selassie is the only person in the past few centuries to have a bunch of people on the other side of the planet just decide on their own that he's god?

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

Who on Earth says "Jah-GWAR" -- Jamaicans? (Or do you mean "Jag-wahr?")

-- nabisco (--...), October 19th, 2005.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

that was supposed to be a guy from Gwar next to the Jah lion, but I'm sure everyone gets the idea.

it was a different shark (wetmink2), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

If it doesn't rhyme with "holla," then I don't want to go on living.

willpie (willpie), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 18:20 (twenty years ago)

People who name their daughters Porsche pronounced PORSH?

wasn't this a bad joke in a fish called wanda?

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure the ads for the Impala here in AU pronounce it im - PA - la (as in, your my PA, rhymes with car). And if the ad from the company says it like that, then thats enough fer me...

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

OK, I totally did NOT just write "your" instead of "you're" just now. I didnt. You ain't seen me.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)
