Mike and Angelo: C/D?

This "alien comes to earth" based CITV sitcom ran for eleven years. ELEVEN YEARS! That means for nearly half of my life, "Mike And Angelo" was on the TV. And yet, unlike other long-running kiddie shows, literally nobody cares about it. Maybe because it wasn't very good. It never ran concurrently with "My Parents Are Aliens", which had a similar theme, but it may have opposed "What On Earth" on CBBC, which featured an alien called "What", who had back to earth years.

There were, to my memory, three Mikes and two Angelos over the years as well, the perils of growing old writ large.

It wasn't very good at all, though I remember the theme tune being a very jolly, guitary affair? I think I liked it.

Jeez!! As a kid I used to really hate both these programmes! Mike and Angelo was filmed in the UK, probably by Central TV who always made shit TV programmes, but made to look like it was done in America.

I also remember What On Earth! Wasn't the alien named Watt though? What's the actor who played Watt doing these days, from what I can remember he was a smarmy-faced fuckwith!

OMG I JUST 'GOT' THE TITLE

I think I was slightly too old for Mike And Angelo when it first showed up. Light hearted kids sci-fi reached the apex with Galloping Galaxies anyway.

I think it was, probably, "wot on earth"

"what" is not a name, even in other galaxies

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:33 (twenty years ago)

maybe Watt?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)

yes

Yeh, this show was rubbish weren't it? But yeh, the theme was good. 11 YEARS! FUCK ME!

I just asked my mate whether he remembered this show and he went "yeh, I hated it."

They must have shown it at the same time as John Craven on BBC1 or something.

An alien named Watt is on the run from his uncle. He is helped by his human friend Sean and hunted by fellow alien Jemadah. Both Watt and Jemadah can alter their looks, a process Watt calls transanimateobjectification. Jemadah changes into various people and Watt changes into various objects

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 20:21 (twenty years ago)

And, according to imdb, Watt appears to have left the acting profession: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0428103/

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 20:21 (twenty years ago)

it was more like... Jemadah changes into various people and Watt changes into various toby jugs.

haha!

Did Watt's ears being backwards have any relevance to the plot of the show, or was it just incidental information?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 20 October 2005 09:45 (twenty years ago)

he was an alien

he had to wear a deerstalker, in public

I think they were upside down, weren't they? maybe not. I thought they were upside down, in one series, and green, in another

I remember finding it hysterical when I was 7 or 8. I also used to like The Chuckle Brothers.
