Are You Happy With Your Private Life?

By this I mean the time you have to yourself when you're not at work, socialising, and etc. Do you feel like you're wasting time? Or is there not enough time? Like you could be doing more?

Personally, I feel I waste too much time in the evenings messing around on the internet, wtaching TV, playing video games etc. Perhaps, I should just accept my inner wastrell. I could be reading, studying, making stuff, planning, but I'm not.

I just wish I had more of it...

I'm working such insane hours at the moment that when I do get private time, I'm too burned out, and trying to relax, rather than actually *doing* anything. Bah.

Paranoid Spice (kate), Friday, 21 October 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

I want more time to read.

beanz (beanz), Friday, 21 October 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

That's what I used to use my commute time for. But that's really difficult with twats blasting music at you on the bus. ;-)

Paranoid Spice (kate), Friday, 21 October 2005 08:26 (twenty years ago)

I waste a SHIT load of time, reading, pootling, - I find that any time off spent at home (unless I crave absolute laziness and relaxation) is a waste.

If I spend a weekend at home watching the telly I return to work on monday deeply unsatisfied. I like to get out and about in the car, explore a bit, wander about, eat out. I think I just hate my flat.

I'm very happy with my private life although I would like a bit more cash so I could make the most of it if I'm honest.

Panther Pink (Pinkpanther), Friday, 21 October 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

MOst of my life is what I guess you'd call private - I see few friends, I stay at home, I keep to myself. I like it that way these days. Sometimes I worry I'm being too insular but I figure if I like it like that why worry? I think most of my friends are used to it by now. I have my boi and we have our little world of silly phrases, understanding, DVDs and geekery. I feel very happy with it, I have to tell you. I have a little pool of nerdy weird nirvana here.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 21 October 2005 10:48 (twenty years ago)

My private life isn't public enough.
All my blog entries have been written during downtime at my job!
Also, I think I would like to read more. I stalled out on the 3 books I'm reading right now halfway through and haven't picked them up again.
Although partially that's bcz kingfish had to go and start that stupid ILGames board which made me obsessive about killing bandits again. It's all your fault! You people!

TOMBOT, Friday, 21 October 2005 11:34 (twenty years ago)

my private life is perfect.

bingo (Chris V), Friday, 21 October 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

It's not really private enough but I suppose that's my own fault really. Otherwise yes.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 21 October 2005 11:40 (twenty years ago)

yes i admit since ILG started I've been playing games more, bravo Kingfish!

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 21 October 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

I often find myself sleeping too late on Saturday, doing the washing and shopping and stuff, watching Final Score, then going out to meet some mates, getting slaughtered, waking up far too late on Sunday as a result, vegging out in front of the TV with a stinking hangover, doing the ironing and going to bed again, then waking up on Monday morning feeling like I wasted the weekend.

Hello Sunshine (Hello Sunshine), Friday, 21 October 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

I take an awful lot of naptime at the weekends - at least two or three hours per day. Afterwards, I always feel a bit bad at wasting so much of my weekend when I could have been productive.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Friday, 21 October 2005 11:54 (twenty years ago)

i'm happy with my private life but i procrastinate too much. i wish i was more type a about getting stuff done.

katrina vanden roffle (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 21 October 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

i'm a really really private person, i love/need/crave privacy. i wonder what my friends think i do all this time, though.

ai lien (kold_krush), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:10 (twenty years ago)

I'm like Trayce. I spend a lot of time at home with Bloke and the dogs and don't go out much. I live far away from my friends and they always go out to pubs and to music venues and I would rather just sit around and chat somewhere quiet, but that's not really an option, it seems. I wish I could somehow magically see all my mates as often as I'd like but still have my quiet life, which I love.

I'm 35 now. I can't afford to think of time spent relaxing as time wasted. I did that for years and it never made me write a great book or save the universe or do anything useful, it just made me feel guilty. Now I've changed my targets. Read 50 books this year! I say to myself. And I do, and there you are, I've achieved my ambition for the year.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

I love me my private life and am in fact looking forward to a Saturday tomorrow where I have NOTHING on my schedule elsewhere to do, the first one in a long while. I intend to relax, clean up the place, review records, read more of this great book on the Reformation, etc.

I know how you feel, I often feel like I should do something more productive with my free time.

O'so Krispie (Ex Leon), Friday, 21 October 2005 14:07 (twenty years ago)

What we do with our time, it seems.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 21 October 2005 16:42 (twenty years ago)

i don't have a private life anymore, thanks to my new, much smaller apartment.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 21 October 2005 16:44 (twenty years ago)

i have come through a period of always feeling that i am either doing too much or to little, and seem to have found something of a happy medium. i work mon to fri, nine to 5, and i write freelance, but i'm making sure i don't take on too much. i am going out for drinks tonight, then i'm going to jog, write, and watch football tomorrow afternoon, then go out for more drinks tomorrow night. i've been interviewing people every night after work mon-thurs for an article, so i am pleased that i have most of the weekend free for leisure.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 21 October 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)
