Great lines (novel edition)

I see threads for first lines, lines of poetry and terrible lines.

But I really just want a thread to repeat a line from The Big Sleep because I've been saying it all day.

"Such a nice escort, Mr. Cobb. So attentive. You should see him sober. I should see him sober. Somebody should see him sober. I mean, just for the record. So it could become a part of history, that brief flashing moment, soon buried in time, but never forgotten—when Larry Cobb was sober." - I've never seen the movie, please tell me that line made it in.

Oh wow. I just finished that book today, like several hours ago.

It seemed natural to watch him rub ice on his balls but you can never know for sure when it comes to snow monkeys.

I really like this line from At Swim Two Birds, just fantastically tetchy.
The idea that all spirits are accomplished instumentalists is a
popular fallacy, said the Good Fairy in a cold voice, just as it is
wrong to assume that they all have golden tempers. Maybe your doubts would be resolved if I kicked the jaw of your face, Mr Andrews?

"Cassowary?"

"Stuffed cassowary. It's like an ostrich. I'm sure he got it because everyone would think it's an ostrich and say, Why've you got a stuffed ostrich? So he could say, no, no, it's a cassowary."
