I can't. I am trying, but I can't. His moustache displays remarkable integrity. Of structure.

But I can't really do much more than that. Can you?

Big Loud Mountain Ape (Big Loud Mountain Ape), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

He took a chair in the face. And had GG Allin on once, I think.

Alan Conceicao (Alan Conceicao), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 01:48 (twenty years ago)

If he never existed, Cheech & Chong never would have come up with the name Horrendo Revolver. (I know that's not much of a defense.)

I do feel guilty for getting any perverse amusement out of it (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 01:52 (twenty years ago)

He was in the Fania movie. He opened Al Capone's vault. Geraldo is pretty great in general. When he leans toward the indefensible at least he does it in an admirably over the top manner.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 01:54 (twenty years ago)

indefensible. helped to legitimize the "satanic ritual abuse" craze which ruined a lot of innocent people's lives.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 26 October 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

Kind of a goofy dude. Got kicked out of the unit he was embedded with in Iraq after drawing a map of their position in the sand for the cameras.

I once saw him parallel park his four-door Bentley and bump Town Cars both in front of and behind.

eight months pass...
Am I the only one who would love to have the old Geraldo show on DVD? Skinheads vs. Black Activists, G.G. Allin, broken noses, Michael Alig & the "Club Kids"...hell, even just for the retro "trash tv" factor.

jay blanchard (jay blanchard), Thursday, 13 July 2006 01:35 (nineteen years ago)

Anyone see that episode where he had on people who escaped some serial killer.

Every guest said "and he slipped me a mickey", which became a catch phrase in my high school circle for about 8 months.

Rev. PappaWheelie (PappaWheelie 2), Thursday, 13 July 2006 02:03 (nineteen years ago)

No, Jay, I'd like to see that stuff, too. Didn't Phil Donahue pioneer the "Nazis on TV" thing? I'd like to see those old shows.

ed slanders (edslanders), Thursday, 13 July 2006 02:16 (nineteen years ago)

Donahue pinoeered it, but Richard Bey mastered it.

The best Bey episode was when he had on people who were abducted by aliens. One older black gentleman made the proclamation that he "had sex with over 2,500 alien women, but none of them compared to an earth woman", to which, the audience roared with applause.

Rev. PappaWheelie (PappaWheelie 2), Thursday, 13 July 2006 02:33 (nineteen years ago)

And had GG Allin on once, I think.

That was Jerry Springer, unless Geraldo had him on too.
Here's the Springer episode:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2LvZd_9aMU&search=jerry%20springer

That GG was a barrel o' laughs, I tells ya.

Marmot 4-Tay: based on my memories of the one listen I gave it 19 years ago (mar, Thursday, 13 July 2006 03:13 (nineteen years ago)

Donahue pinoeered it, but Richard Bey mastered it.

this is an interesting phenomenon in itself -- washed up 80s philadelphia news broadcasters ending up becoming 90s/00s trash-TV hosts. povich, pennacoli, and richard bey.

geraldo's episode w/ GG was classic -- GG was in rare form that day. then there's the cracking of al capone's "safe" -- all that build-up and suspense for NOTHING. and the "SHOCKKKKKINGGGGG!!!!!!!" zinger on his shows counts in his favor too, i suppose.

I think president Hoover loves GG Allin.

Geraldo is a harmless sleazebucket whose face makes me laugh. Let's go Geraldo!

trees (treesessplode), Thursday, 13 July 2006 13:17 (nineteen years ago)

He is the second-least loathsome Fox News personality.

(please don't say Brit Hume)

Naw. Greta.

M. V. (M.V.), Thursday, 13 July 2006 15:36 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah - my mom swears she saw me in the background of some Greta report, in that when she was doing her piece to camera about the London bombings I walked right past and into some doorway.

Geraldo is a harmless sleazebucket whose face makes me laugh.

There's hope for me yet...

Is it unfair to blame Greta for all that Lacy Peterson etc bullshit "news" coverage? Because if it's not, I'm going to say Colmes.

He went to my law school. He donated money for the cafeteria in the new dorm, which is called "Geraldo's" (the cafeteria, not the dorm). In fact, other than the guy on the Apprentice, I'm pretty sure he's our most famous alumn. And yes I also find it amazing that Geraldo Rivera went to law school.

This was texted to me by a groomsman this morning. I may drive over to his house and punch him.

k3vin k., Monday, 22 July 2013 17:05 (twelve years ago)

My aversion has nothing to do with his body, and everything to do with his self-obsessed preening. NAGL, Geraldo, and one you've been sporting for DECADES.

quincie, Monday, 22 July 2013 17:14 (twelve years ago)

this should be an auto-replace for his name, y/n?
