POO - Poultry or Fish?

I could live without poultry I guess. Though trips to the curry shop would never be the same again. I'd miss chicken soup, but I'd cope.

Difficult. I use chicken more cos it's versitile, but I prefer fish at the moment after having smoked cod last night. FIsh curry is rubbish tho.

I'm allergic to fish so I don't care about that. Poultry - well, I don't eat meat, but I could not survive without their lovely EGGSSESS so my little chickedees, it is.

Paranoid Spice (kate), Thursday, 27 October 2005 11:09 (twenty years ago)

I don't really mind.

i couldn't go without my monthly duck intake and in the same sentence, I love fresh fish especially rainbow trout.

Oooh I don’t know, it’s a tough’ne

Oh, eggs really throws in an unexpected twist ... Still I say fish; seems like fish can taste so many different ways, and chixin/bird all tastes like chixin. Also, chickens are filthy and disgusting. Fish probably are too, but at least they're always rinsing themselves off.

Anything a chicken can do a duck can do better, but nothing in the world replaces fish. Using the same logic that tea is better than beer, I'm gona say that fish is better than chicken.

How many fish eggs does it take to make a frittata?

Chicken don't taste like duck.
Fish may be rinsing regularly but they be rinsing in our piss and shit and chemical waste and oil spills.

Chicken doesn't taste like duck in the same way that dairylee doesn't taste like brie. If I had lots of duck, I could live without chicken.

oh damn, kate's mention of eggs really threw a spanner in the works! was all about to come in here and rep for the fishies but eggs trump all.

does fish include other kinds of seafood or not? cos that's what i really love. if not, then eggs all the way.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 27 October 2005 11:27 (twenty years ago)

Hmmm, I was sort of pushing the 'white meat' angle but go on. After all, no poultry means no poultry eggs either.

Okay, chuck in shellfish too.

Rumpie, Thursday, 27 October 2005 11:31 (twenty years ago)

i think we should start again.

POO - Land/Air or Underwater?

but then you have crabs which can do land and sea!

i give up.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Thursday, 27 October 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

Crabs = shellfish

Chickens = generous

Rumpie, Thursday, 27 October 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

Fish, for sure.

omg this is tough those are the two main axes of my diet! i eat chicken allllllllllll the time but i also love fish! but it's harder to cook. oh man oh man. i guess i can live without poultry yeah because other meat are okay. but there's nothing quite like fish! fishy fishy

Comparing chicken to, say, cod would be fairer. I'd miss the versatility of chicken, I'd miss Sarah's turkey chilli, foie gras and the occasional crispy duck but the thought of living without clams or octopus or salmon or tuna or scallops is a lot more terrifying.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 27 October 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

OTM

If I had to give up chicken, the only thing I would really miss is chicken stock as an ingredient in other dishes.

I could never give up chicken. Just the thought of giving up chicken makes me want to cry. The smell of chicken roasting in the oven, when you come in from outside and get hit with it...your every molecule does the happy dance!!! And to pile your plate full of crispy-skin chicken with egg noodles and pesto? Lordy.
Even when you wash the roasting pan it smells good.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Thursday, 27 October 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

I hate fish, so no choice to be made, chicken wins hands (or feet) down. All edible things that involve having lived in the sea or in a river are horrible, no exception. Chicken on the other hand is fantastic, for all the reasons Beth just said. I can't imagine a world where I didn't have eggs or chicken or turkey or duck or goose fat.
