I remember an article in the Guardian (I think) about this a while ago.. the bloke stayed on some special health far in Singapore. They used coffee for enemas. Or vinegar, I think. That's going to smart, isn't it?

I've never really looked into how it works. If we're talking complementary therapy, I'd rather have a massage. So much less squishy.

I mean, how it works is sort of obvious...but do they shoot it up there or does it sort of trickle up? And does it all come out straight away, or sort of leak out after you're done?

An enema? You know where you can stick that.

It is squirted up, and, shortly thereafter, it returns with friends.

Not an entirely unpleasant experience...somewhat liberating, to be honest. You will feel lighter.

So, why coffee??

hobart paving (hobart paving), Friday, 28 October 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

er, big loud moutain ape, how much liquid are we talking about here, that needs to be squirted 'up'?

a litre, 250mL? etc.

Grell (Grell), Friday, 28 October 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

on the coffee enemas, don't you apparently lose tons and tons of weight?

that could be the plus.

Grell (Grell), Friday, 28 October 2005 21:35 (twenty years ago)

For the aficionado. A normal amount is much much less, more like 2 cups for an adult. I took a lecture class once in "colonic irrigation" as part of a natural health series at a food co-op. If I remember, coffee has some special property that opens up pores or something, releases toxins, then slams said pores shut again.

As BLMA says, not entirely unpleasant, but also not something I'd have done if I didn't have to.

Oh, that link - it's NSFW, btw.

Well, now. That is a surprise.
