Friday/Saturday nights alone: a tribute thread

I am listening to THIN LIZZY (currently: "Running Back," prob. my favorite none-"Boys" track from Jailbreak) and drinking italian beer (inspired by the conclusion of Farewell to Arms, which I finished last night) by myself. I rented "The Wire: Season One" and "Tao of Steve," neither of which I've seen but I've heard good things. I also bought Honey Nut Cheerios for the late night snack cravings, and some green tea.

How's yr friday.

The beer is Peroni, I've never had it before but I like it. Not bad for a cheapo $6.49 purchase price at Jewel.

tonight i was going to go to a party, but my friend whose apartment it's at asked me, "hope you weren't getting a weird vibe the other day when you were hanging out with me and Jason (the BF). right after you left he asked me if there was something going on between us. weird. okay, see you at the party!"

I didn't feel much like going after that. so here i sit listening to Hendrix, Tricky, and ranting about bad movies and drinking Guinness!

Peroni is great, but I prefer Moretti when it comes to Italian beer.

I too am at work. All night.

Currently getting into the Halloween spirit by watching "Most Haunted Live" (on the Travel Channel) and painting my fingernails black for a themed party I'll be attending tomorrow night. I'm not very keen on going out on the weekend. I usually figure I spend a great deal of time away from the house throughout the week and during the day on weekends, so weekend nights are ideal for reacquainting myself with home. And, as I've mentioned before, I'm perpetually about 45 (years old) on the inside, so I have more fun staying in than going out most of the time.

Dah! Add another to the late-nite workers.

Tired after a long work week and most of the weekend will be either parties, concerts and more work. So I zoned tonight with the Wallace and Gromit DVD of the shorts and feel much the better for it.

deej.. (deej..), Saturday, 29 October 2005 04:13 (twenty years ago)

fuck i got real sick all of a sudden so im at home hoping i get somewhat better by tomorrow for my party. im drinking lots of tea. its been a week of incredibly holy shit amazing wtf omg best news of my whole whole life, and also the party looks like its going to be good - so this throat-of-death is extra suck.

and im stressing out because i still need a photographer and also a recording device for the dj set and a mixer but my credit card is maxed so i can't rent a mixer. and im lying in bed too feeble to even turn on the xbox. fuck fuck shit. i need soup

and also im looking back at last year's photos from the party and all my friends then aren't coming this year because we're no longer friends. which is somewhat depressing.

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 29 October 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

Haha yr not in chicago are you? I'd lend you a mixer! I dont even know you but these peroni's are awesome.

petesmith (plsmith), Saturday, 29 October 2005 05:26 (twenty years ago)

I just got home from work. I'm not technically alone, but I'm the only person awake.

Phil, you sound like you have my cold. I had throat-of-death three days ago, much better now.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Saturday, 29 October 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

omg i dont think my throat has ever ever hurt this much before. everytime i swallow i think im going to cry.

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:45 (twenty years ago)

Haha, one of those nights!

(Sorry to seem unsympathetic, just couldn't resist the joke.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 29 October 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

Philly, doll, your throat shouldn't hurt that much. Go get Chloraseptic RIGHT NOW, the commercials may be cheesy and I always feel ridiculous using it, but it'll numb you up so you can breathe/swallow/SLEEP.

Is your throat sore in the been-hacking-up-a-lung-for-two-days way, or in a hot, swollen way that makes you feel like everything's constricting and you won't be able to breathe? If the latter, you might want to visit a med-stop today in case it's strep or something. No shit, the WORST sore throat I ever had was thrush. I didn't realize it was serious until I couldn't stop crying because every time I drew breath it hurt again and being in pain for days was so tiring. So look online and figure out NOW where to go if you break down and need to see a doc.

Try gargling with warm salt water, it might reduce inflammation and it's certainly anti-septic. Good luck, luv.

Laurel, Saturday, 29 October 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

Tao of Steve, not so good. Everything else was great though!

deej.. (deej..), Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

whoa, I was listening to Thin Lizzy last night too! I was home alone (by choice! haha), making my halloween costume. Also, hungover by Thursday, the real and better Friday.

(and: warm salt water does work. xpost)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

laurel, you had thrush? that's so twee!

jagged little filly (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

i also have a cold :-(

jagged little filly (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

I know, JB, but I was only about 14 and certainly hadn't been a) kissing anyone or b) licking railings, so it's a mystery how I got it at all. I had tonsillitis and strep on and off throughout my childhood and I can say firmly that the thrush hurt more than any of the other occasions. It's miserable.

Laurel, Saturday, 29 October 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)

I also have a cold. For the past week or has it been two? Yep, two. Count it: TWO SNOT-FILLED WEEKS. :-)
