I am

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm at work. Friday night overnight shift. The same overnight shift I've been doing FOR OVER A MOTHERFUCKING DECADE OF MY EVIDENTLY DIRECTIONLESS LIFE.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:13 (twenty years ago)

it's a dark and lonely night, alex, but there's a beacon of light at the end of it. ;-)

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:22 (twenty years ago)

perfect. hello

nein Socken (nein Socken), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:25 (twenty years ago)

i get as drunk as i can with freinds, but still end up like this. awake. watching the definately maybe dvd. and talking to you fine folks...

JD from CDepot, Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:26 (twenty years ago)

How bad is your insomnia, JD?

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

i was asleep but woke up and read a little and ate a dark chocolate bar. i don't qualify as an insomniac. i'm just awake right now because i ate a dark chocolate bar at 11 pm. i cannot fall back asleep. the end.

nein Socken (nein Socken), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:34 (twenty years ago)

i realize you weren't asking me about MY insomnia. but i wanted to tell my tale.

nein Socken (nein Socken), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:35 (twenty years ago)

its pretty damn bad. i think it stems from a drug habit from two years ago, but honestly, i can never sleep unless i take OTC sleep medicine, but that just ruins the next day.

it sucks, you know?

JD from CDepot, Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:37 (twenty years ago)

i dont know if anyone else is like this, but for me, i don't feel like i ever sleep. I just take naps....just a few hours out, no dreaming, and then im up again. of couse, unless i take sleeping pills, which are such bullshit. i quit doing Oxy/heroin for a reason..............

JD from CDepot, Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:43 (twenty years ago)

Ah damn. Y'know, it can be good/fun if it's occasional. I love having a walk in the city in the middle of the night.

Actually the best thing seems to be naps: you can stay awake more hours. But of course it's a bit impractical.

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:44 (twenty years ago)

As a last resort, have you considered a sleep clinic? Have heard that these can truly cure insomnia -- they hook you up to a machine and then after you fall asleep wake up about every 20 minutes. Apparently you feel really fuXored after a night of this, but then sleep well afterwards and live happily ever after. Not sure how expensive it is, but it's worth considering if nothing else works.

salexander / sofia (salexander), Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:45 (twenty years ago)

impractical, exactly. most people you meet will complain about practical people, about how boing they are etc....

to be honest, i wish i was practical! instead im a loon who sleeps only when forced.

Oh, and xxxpost. Alex, you don't seem to have a directionless life. you're terribly smart about music, your posts make me laugh out loud (so much so that i refuse to abreviate it), and you have a beautiful child. im just a twenty something loser/wannabe songwriter who loves impossible girls.

JD from CDepot, Saturday, 29 October 2005 08:49 (twenty years ago)

You're not a loon!

We had a business acquaintance who slept about 4 hours a night. It was extremely difficult for him to find a driver because they couldn't keep up with him. He looked 120 years old as well.

nathalie, a bum like you (stevie nixed), Saturday, 29 October 2005 09:06 (twenty years ago)

sorry about your insomnia... wish i had a suggestion for you. i'm sure you've heard them all anyway.

nein Socken (nein Socken), Saturday, 29 October 2005 09:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm awake too. I'm not convinced this qualifies as insomnia.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 29 October 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

thanx for all the help people. there isn't a solution, but drink on you know.... (perhaps thats the real problem)

JD from CDepot, Saturday, 29 October 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

My sleep patterns flopped a couple weeks ago, and now I'm working nights and sleeping days.

What's the best job for an insomniac? Security guard at a library?

Evanston Wade (EWW), Saturday, 29 October 2005 09:51 (twenty years ago)

Oh fuck I didn't sleep AT ALL last night, no idea why. Now I'm doing a 7 hour work shift and have to go out to dinner later. I'm starting to zone out / hallucinate already and it's only 2.40 pm here.

HELP

Matt #2 (Matt #2), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

Fall over and get sent home so you can get a couple of hours kip (this won't work if you are going out for dinner with any colleagues, obviously).

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 October 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

Self employed and going out w/ my wife, but a good idea anyway.

after a long spell of not being able to sleep till 3 or 4am, I tried some herbal sleeping pills last night. I got to sleep at the same time, then couldn't get up this morning. Oyyyyyy.

NYC Goatse.cx and Flowers (Merdeyeux), Monday, 28 June 2010 10:37 (sixteen years ago)

i've had this thing for the past week where i've been getting up around 5 a.m., going on the internet for a while, and drifting back to sleep. i am now "on the internet for a while."

Artificial in my case, last jet lag holdover.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 28 June 2010 12:25 (sixteen years ago)

but you're always up early!

Pies and Whispers (get bent), Monday, 28 June 2010 12:26 (sixteen years ago)

Not normally at 4 am.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 28 June 2010 12:26 (sixteen years ago)

whenever i'm on early in the morning, it's basically you and the brits.

Get Bent, are you on the East Coast? I'd always pegged Ned's alleged early morning posts to the time-zone differences.

When we was in the shower, your buttcheeks was warm (Eisbaer), Monday, 28 June 2010 13:03 (sixteen years ago)

come and talk about football you moaners

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Monday, 28 June 2010 13:05 (sixteen years ago)

eis, i'm west coast these days. i attribute ned's early morning posts to the fact that he wakes up really fucking early.

darragh, i'm not much of a commentator on that stuff; i just watch the games and go "yay" or "boo."

Pies and Whispers (get bent), Monday, 28 June 2010 16:50 (sixteen years ago)

how's your prose? that's rly where it's at these days with the football threads

,,,,,,eeeeleon (darraghmac), Monday, 28 June 2010 17:31 (sixteen years ago)

Slept 2-6 this morning but instead of just dicking around online as I'd usually do I got up. I was dressed and had been to the grocery store and back by 8:30 a.m. Slept again from 10:15 - 12:00. Really I just need to go to bed earlier but I get a 2nd wind around 10 pm every night. :(
