I desperately need to buy a new hat, a new scarf and new gloves for this winte, but I don't know what to get! Warmth is obviously u+k, but I also want to look STYYLIN'. I have bought myself a super-snappy, very classy black overcoat so it'd be good if they went well with that.

Just talk about winter clothes!

NYC, who makes beautiful leather gloves for winter? I'm not getting some shit from Macy*s ever again -- a few years ago I got lucky at a glove sample sale and bought 3 pair at once but I have now worn them out/lost one of each so it's time to try again. Need soft linings but not necess. cashmere. If no one has any suggestions I suppose I'll be at Cent 21.

Sadness. The black ones had stylized flowers & vines embroidered on 'em, they were like Russian princess gloves (sleigh not included).

I bought myself a lovely John Smedley scarf, reversible no less. Will look for pictures when I get home but it's lovely

I hear mittens that attach to the coat are gonna be the bees knees this winter!

Last winter I bought a pair of Isaac black leather cashmere-lined gloves at Target, and they are AWESOME. Beautiful, soft, warm, look like I spent much more on them than $25.

Fux fur seems to be popular for this year, I got a faux sable hat at Target. They have really nice kid leather gloves with beading too. I hate cheap looking fake fur though, the find that hangs off of the ratty green parkas of kids on the back of the bus.
Also, brightly colored knit hats and gloves that contrast with bright peacoats seem to be the rage.

That would be faux, not fux.

I have a pair of black leather gloves from the Mizrahi stuff at Target, they're actually quite nice. I stopped in Target the other day and almost bought a very, very, very intensely bright blue scarf and gloves to contrast with my coral peacoat, but they really weren't well made at all and the gloves were massively too large for some reason. But I think that's the color I want.

Carey? Anyone? Suggestions other than Target/Cent 21/street tables in Soho?

I just wish it'd get cold so I can wear my gloves again. They are leather ones from that hip young peoples store Marks and Spencer.

I have underwear from Marks and Spencer. I think that officially makes me old.

Oi!

Oh wait, I am old. Marks & Sparks knickers = signifier of MIDDLE AGED AND MIDDLE CLASS.

(Which is worse, oh no!)

We might force K8 to change her name to Marie. (kate), Tuesday, 1 November 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

I just got a wonderful Anna Sui handbag as a birthday present. :-)))))))

laurel, how much do you want to spend? saks always has lovely buttery leather gloves in a gorgeous array of colors, but they don't come cheaply. then again, you won't need to get a new pair for some time.

I've got a cool Donny Osmond style cap for the winter with a handy deep brim for keeping the rain and snow off my glasses. I'll be sticking with my faithful 3 metre long black crochet scarf and fake fur trimmed gloves. I've got a nice cord 3/4 princess line coat for when i want to look nice and a not so nice looking goretex jacket for when it's so cold that i don't care about looking good.
