Normal Objects with Strange Designs

I found a lighter in a suitcase that had been left behind in the crawlspace above my toilet in my old house.

It was a square brass lighter with a womans head embossed on it. The woman had an indian headress on, and below her head the word Queen was embossed in fancy lettering.

When lit, the lighter played the Lambada and three red lights flashed on the back of it.

It became my favourite thing in the world. My friends loved the Lambada lighter. There was no makers mark or country of origin anywhere on it. We liked to believe that a genie lived in it.

Soon the Lambada lighter wore out. The tune was the first to go. It got slower and more whiny and eventually stopped. The lighter lost most of it's appeal.

Then my ex-boyfriend discovered it in a drawer. Without a second thought he threw it in the bin. The Lambada lighter is no more. I mourn it's loss. It was a mystery indeed. Where did it come from? Why was it called Queen? Who was the woman? Why the Lambada? These things I'll never know.

Have you ever come across mind-bogglingly strange objects like this?

My friend got a dildo as her 17th or 18th birthday present. It was black, shiny, shaped like a cone, and it had a small pedestal. She placed it in her bookshelf and everyone thought it was some sort of statuette, unless they touched it.

Mmm, I knew someone who used a rather large (and never-used) buttplug as a coffee table centrepiece.

(in fact, from your description, that sounds more like a buttplug than a dildo)

I have a small stuffed toy gorilla named Günther. Toy gorillas in themselves aren't that special, but Günther happens to wear a pair of gym pants, a leather vest, and a Tom of Finland type of leather cap, making him look unmistakably like an S/M gay dude. I find it kinda interesting someone thought this would be a suitable fashion choice for a gorilla.

I'm not sure what a suitable fashion choice for a gorilla would be, actually.

Fancy lighters that light up and play tunes are widely available in India. I had one with a puppy that played "My Heart Will Go On".

My Queen lighter must hail from India then. A lot of thought went into the making of it though. A lot of disjointed thought perhaps, but it was a design masterpiece.

We bought a bic lighter in Fuerteventura and it was decorated with pictures of electrical plugs.
