OK, Nelly has a song about it, Paul Wall is a dentist who become a new white rap sensation... what the fuck is going on with that gold/diamond teeth and hip hop/afroamerican culture? History? Meaning? I'm not American so I would like to know why people put that shit in their mouth (isn't 'normal' jewlery enough?)

Although I don't want a contribution to this thread to be seen as a second to the somewhat hostile attitude expressed by the original poster, I do have questions about their installation. Do you just sort of pop them over your teeth, or what? Like how committed to wearing one do you need to be? My friend referred to getting one at the j&j flea market, but the opportunity never arose in conversation to ask, so how do those work exactly?

Most of them I think do pop over your teeth. The kids I taught would often get the flea market variety but they can hurt you or damage your gums. Obv. the real rollers get them custom made.

>Do you just sort of pop them over your teeth, or what?<

Think of them less like fillings and more like a retainer. Except made of platinum. And diamonds. And costing 100X as much.

Oh I saw this the other day. I thought it was a grown man with coloured braces. Little did I know he was the height of fashion.
