what are you guys more into?

Sometimes I'm in an "Earl" mood and then I'm in more of an "Office" mood. But I don't know which one I like better since they're on Back-2-Back and you can't really make up you're mind.

dude im in serious celeb lust with jason lee and i still prefer the office x 100000

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 01:05 (twenty years ago)

earl has its moments but office is overall much more satisfying.

tehresa (tehresa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 01:32 (twenty years ago)

tehresa has it exactly backwards.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 01:35 (twenty years ago)

I love the competition between these two shows, but the deep cast of "The Office" is barely beating the amazingnessosity of Jamie Pressley, Eddie Steeples, and Nadine Velazquez these days.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 01:36 (twenty years ago)

reading a book

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 01:40 (twenty years ago)

I don't really think Earl is funny. OFFICE, FOR SURE.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 04:14 (twenty years ago)

I think Ed should kill his brother while muttering something about hunting rabbits.

It'd be a hell lot more funnier that way than it is now.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 04:52 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i love the office. i wanna see the british version of Pam, because im utterly in love with the american version

JD from CDepot, Wednesday, 18 January 2006 05:44 (twenty years ago)

Both crappy.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 05:46 (twenty years ago)

fuck earl.

howell huser (chaki), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 05:59 (twenty years ago)

i've seen 2 episodes of earl and 3 or 4 episodes of the office. i liked both, but i think the office is funnier. my name is earl is funny in an "OMG there's nothing on except my name is earl" kind of way. lately, i've been watching way too much mtv. show's like "viva la bam" and "real world/road rules gauntlet" i only watch to see if bam margera can get any uglier or, of course, hot real world/road rules chicks. i'm not sure why i'm still typing this...i'm sleepy.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 06:33 (twenty years ago)

the american office is brilliant. really. and everyone thought it would suck.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 06:46 (twenty years ago)

For good reason, given the general track record on these things.

Hey Crabman!

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:28 (twenty years ago)

i've never seen the american office. obviously, the british one pisses on almost everything else ... but even then, i'm really enjoying "my name is earl". true, we've only had two episodes so far. but what's not to like? it's kinda slick no-brain funny, perfectly executed.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 10:53 (twenty years ago)

awww crabman. yeah, earl is great and theres really no need to choose. they're on back to back. i just wish it was still tuesday nights.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 13:54 (twenty years ago)

What Grimly said.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 13:58 (twenty years ago)

For good reason, given the general track record on these things.

I was just thinking about this a few days ago, and came to the conclusion that "Sanford & Son"/"All In The Family" should be enough to cancel out whatever other disasters this approach has given us.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 14:17 (twenty years ago)

i'm still wondering if there's any way for an american to see steptoe and son! til death do us part or whatever it's called is available on dvd here at least.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 14:19 (twenty years ago)

my name is earl has maybe one funny joke per episode. it got old really fast though.

for that matter I watched Scrubs last night for the first time in a while and boy I think it's time for that show to say goodnight as well.

US office has been very good. I missed the last one. It threatened to jump the shark when Michael gave Tim sincere romantic advice on the boat, though.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 19:31 (twenty years ago)

"Cheers" vs. "Night Court"

WHY??

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 19:41 (twenty years ago)

Both are okay. Office has grown on me but Istill love the British one more. The US Pam is very different fromt her British counterpart, I think.

Hey Chris, Bam is hott. (Jason Lee is an ex-skater, too)

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 19:42 (twenty years ago)

my name is earl has maybe one funny joke per episode. it got old really fast though.

ive never understood how people rate shows by joke count. on a skit show, of course, a simpsons type show too, but it seem really odd for a comedy with a continuous plotline to be judged that way. id hope there was more to it than X out of 10 lols. its kind of like those annoying people who go to see bands and then after the show spend 20 minutes listing all the notes the guitarist missed.

sunny successor (katharine), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 19:50 (twenty years ago)

well a comedy should make me laugh occasionally, and I don't, for most of My Name Is Earl. I just sit there waiting for something funny to happen. Eventually something does. Usually only once.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:00 (twenty years ago)

I like the US Office okay, except for the romantic tension between the two "sympathetic" characters is way forced and unbelievable. Other than that, the one episode I've seen (Booze Cruise) was really good.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:02 (twenty years ago)

You've only seen one episode and you think their romantic tension is forced and unbelievable?

Since that episode hinged on her getting actually engaged, the dynamics were weirder than usual.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:04 (twenty years ago)

Well, I think watched most of the pilot as well. I just don't like US-Tim, though he could play Baylis if they ever made a movie about Homicide Goes To High School.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:10 (twenty years ago)

i love love love earl. the actor that plays his brother randy is brilliant, especially when faced with the giant ostrich a couple episodes ago.
caught a couple episodes of the office, and while i found them funny, i was a huge fan of the original and don't feel the need to re-tread. i should tivo them though, steve carell is great.

something less threatening (heywood), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:32 (twenty years ago)

You've only seen one episode and you think their romantic tension is forced and unbelievable?

I've thought that since the beginning.

The season doesn't seem retread at all. I think the US show is standing on it's own now.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty equally "aside from" rather than "into" these two.

Aimless (Aimless), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:50 (twenty years ago)

LETS MAKE FUN OF HOW DUMB SOUTHERNERS ARE! vs LETS MAKE FUN OF SOME DILBERT SHIT

howell huser (chaki), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:51 (twenty years ago)

I don't think Earl's dumb at all.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 20:55 (twenty years ago)

I still don't understand how people have so much time to watch TV, esp. random NBC sitcoms.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:07 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, that was unfair. It's just threads like these that make me feel disconnected from ILX.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 21:09 (twenty years ago)

EARL: (sotto voce) "I sure hope my brother doesn't say anything about about the money to [this week's villian]."

RANDY: "Hey, [this week's villian]! Did Earl tell you about the money he won?"

Luuuuuuuuu-cyyy!
