cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 02:18 (twenty years ago)

also, i think the fumes are making me dizzy

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 02:19 (twenty years ago)

it took me five minutes to find the "Ask A Question" button

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 02:19 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty jealous here. But not of the fumes (did you LOCK the oven? I have a feeling there shouldn't be fumes...) The building manager came to check over my apartment today: bottom element of oven doesn't work and the fridge isn't frost free and makes noise, plus it sometimes shakes the stove so it too makes noise. It's the kitchen of a few yesterdays ago.

self cleaning oven is a good metaphor for a uterus.

They had a
thoroughly modern kitchen
self-cleaning oven (the whole bit)
Frank drove a little sedan
they were so happy

That's a compelling little story. "Egg must be fertilized during this time or menstruation will result!" (exclamation mark mine.)

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:10 (twenty years ago)

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:10 (twenty years ago)

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:12 (twenty years ago)

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:12 (twenty years ago)

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:13 (twenty years ago)

but i've learned a valuable lesson tonight: let your oven grime go

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:13 (twenty years ago)

there has to be some lame jess harvell/grime joke that a witty ilxor can make in response to that!

t0dd swiss (immobilisme), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 03:49 (twenty years ago)

there's all this WHITE SHIT in the oven now

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 04:22 (twenty years ago)

So what are these things, is this like an oven that sprays itself with Mr Muscle instead of you doing it with a can? Does it wipe the grime out afterwards or do you gotta?

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 04:30 (twenty years ago)

gremlins

cancer prone fat guy (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 04:31 (twenty years ago)

I just got a working fridge last week. The old one was full of pre-Katrina food. I made my landlord come over with a respirator and empty that bitch out. I'm a little scared to use the oven too much--who knows what can happen in an enclosed dark space in three months of subtropical fun?

adam (adam), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 06:03 (twenty years ago)

PS treasure the dishwasher

adam (adam), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 06:03 (twenty years ago)

three years pass...

I have an oven with a 'clean' setting on the dial but no instructions. If I set it to clean and then leave the apartment can I trust it not to do anything too radical?

ljubljana, Friday, 6 November 2009 03:13 (sixteen years ago)

The door usually locks and they heat up to over 800 deg F. It's usually recommended that somebody hang around, just in case.

Jaq, Friday, 6 November 2009 03:17 (sixteen years ago)

Ah, ok, thanks. Do you think it will clean up even the godawful mess left when the honey/soy chicken dribbled over the edge of the pan, or should I try to make a start on that beforehand? Also, do you know roughly how long it should take?

ljubljana, Friday, 6 November 2009 03:31 (sixteen years ago)

BTW, the fact that I can picture your amazing kitchen when reading your answer makes you a very authoritative kitchen info source.

ljubljana, Friday, 6 November 2009 03:32 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, a self cleaning oven just gets so hot that it burns all the food stuck inside to ash. Then you wipe your ash when you're finished.

This says to wipe up spills first or the oven will smoke - http://ask.yahoo.com/20030102.html

Right, Marigolds.

ljubljana, Friday, 6 November 2009 03:39 (sixteen years ago)

very authoritative kitchen info source

Haha, it's all about the image ;)

I'm wondering about the original poster's fumes. Maybe he used oven cleaner+self-cleaning?

Jaq, Friday, 6 November 2009 03:43 (sixteen years ago)

Maybe Jenny and yahoo are otm and he left some kind of mess in there before turning it on. But that's smoke, not fumes.
