Go West, Young Man!!

In late May, I will be leaving the DC Metro area, driving accross country for about a week, and landing in LA permanently. I need some advice re: moving

I used to work for a moving company, so I am aware of some of the possible options for this type of move. We are SEVERLY consolidating the amount of stuff we're moving so as to cut costs. Prolly going to amount to a one bedroom apartment worth of stuff by the time we're through.

So, here's the variables:

1 week's worth of travel - need to coordinate our stuff's arrival with our arrival. This is SOMEWHAT flexible, but only by a day or two.
Low cost is best.
Good reputation is important, as much of what we are moving will be our wedding gifts.

Considering:
moveable storage containers, like PODS or what-have-you
Renting a truck
Hiring movers
